Why not clear? use some correct size screws to cover the extra holes and call it a day.
Sounds good.
Or just put the screws back in the holes with no pickguard.
That's such a stunning top! Lucky Boy!

Had to take the pickguard off to see what was going on under the hood. I was amazed how beautiful the top is.
Despite the holes, Im leaving the PG off for now. Thinking about someting else other than Black. Unfortunatley,
clear is out of the quesion due to the extra holes in the body from the cover and thumb rest. Any suggestions???

Fran requested "desktop pix" of my new MV5 some time back.
My tripod is at work, so, the focus isn't as crisp as it could be, but they're what I've got for now...

WOW
That is one classy looking Bass. I think its perfect. So what do you think of the Ash/Maple with SC's?
IMO that's not a good idea; you'd need to screw them deeper into the wood to compensate for the thickness of the pickguard or to leave them partially out, with the risk of accident that comes along.
just a question for Sadowsky owners that had or have a fender jazz..do they have the same feel, not in how they sound or play but in how they are when on a strap, body size, weight, thickness and so on,,are they similar?or way different?
been thinking of a nyc vintage 4 string a good while now but where i live there is no where that stock sadowsky and i have a shop that will order one but only if i buy..
i had a few fender j bass guitars in the past but while i love the sound i could never get one to sit right on me(maybe my gut).thanks in advance,
Fran, all he would have to do is get shorter screws to eliminate that problem.
I'm such a fuddy dud about pickguards. I like having them, if anything, to protect the finish below the G string. I'm betting in this particular bass that a clear one might be the ticket.

Fenders are great, infact i have a Fender Jazz 4 String Victor Bailey Model, i have been to the SADOWSKY shop and have played the basses they have there, and they are way different from a Fender, the weight, the action, the necks are a dream, i just purchased a VALENTI J4 Yesterday and i can assure you it is NO FENDER, this thing plays like a dream, the sound, the weight, the action, i have always heard the saying it plays like butter, well guess what this VALENTI plays like butter, by the way Nino Valenti also works for the great SADOWSKY. In closing i would say get a SADOWSKY or a Valenti, i can assure you that the feel is not even close. And one more thing the string spacing on the 4 strings are much nicer than on my JAZZ fender, hope this helps, also look around your area some one may own a SADOWSKY or even a VALENTI and you may be able to play it for a while, you never know unless you ask, good luck either way.
Oh yeah. +1. Waaaayyyyyy different feeling on a strap and everywhere else too. And that feeling is 100% better IMHO. I still have 1 Fender P-bass - my '62 AV Reissue. But I sold my Fender Jazz after getting my Sadowsky J/J. I plan on getting a Sadowsky 5-string P/J in the future.

No 4 string basses?![]()
