What I was wanting to say is after the 35 days are up I will be sitting on the edge of my seat. Just wish I had extra cash. But I dont. I would love to own anyone of those Basses you have pictured. Dont need them but would Love to have anyone of them if you are keeping your Sadowsky count @ 4.
I'll keep you in mind, and honestly, I don't know what I might do next year right now anyway, but this thread will be the first to know... after a bit of prior advance notice to some good friends such as yourself, of course.
I would definitely like to A/B these at the next GTG. Both Metro, Both PJ. The only variance is the woods. I think to would make for interesting discovery.
When I went into Guitar Center last weekend to try out an effects pedal, the guy that helped me was a bassist and we talked a little about gear. He asked me what type of bass I played and when I answered, "Sadowsky," he had no clue about it. It was strange that I genuinely felt sorry for him...
He could be a newbie at bass you know, and to be honest alot of those guys that work at those music stores hardly know crap. IMHO. I happened to have had the same look on my face when i told a quote un quote bass player the same thing, all he knew was FENDER.
In many ways having low key name on the headstock is a good thing for a high-end (read $$$) bass. It is less apt to be a target for thieves. Surprisingly most bass players have never heard of Sadowsky, Fodera, Smith, F Bass or Zon.
Aguilar and Bergantino are kinda off the mainstream radar too. But all one has to do is watch most of the awards shows or most of the late night shows and they will see Sadowskys, db750s galore.

Thank you. It's a lot of fun & actually quite challenging to get all the levels & mix ratios as well as getting thru the take "sans mistake" LOL. It's "live" / no edit recording so the closer I get to the end, the more "stressful" it gets
I wish more of you guys would try it so we could have a friday night "overdub party" here w/ YOUR fav bands. LOL.
Can't wait to do this w/ my new build eventually!

Actually, I heard him jam a bit and he definitely knew what he was doing. I was impressed by what he knew compared to others who have helped me at GC. I think that may be why I felt bad for him.

It's just plug into the Sadowsky pre > Avalon U5 DI > dbx160a compressor > Tascam BT1 mk2 CD player (where I can remove the CD music's bass - for the most part anyway) > Olympus LS10 dig recorder. Then I load the WAV files onto the computer for my normal playback thru an (Apogee Duet for mac) interface. The mac can convert to a high quality(128 kbps) mp3 file for email or hosting. The U5 & the dbx are not necessary but enhance the purity of the bass signal -etc, for recording. I prefer this process for overdub. I've tried it using "garageband" on the mac but I find this way has definite advantages & speeds up the many takes & false starts required to get individual song settings. It's a bit demanding but satisfying.
