Club Sadowsky!!!

Does anyone out there own a modern 524 and a stingray? I'm afraid that if I get the sadowsky my ray might collect dust :\.
I never really heard a Sadowsky Modern so I'm gonna have to youtube it, but if it does have that ballsy ray tone, I may have to add one to the GAS list! Thanks again man!

I have an NYC 24F-5, and used to own a really nice (hand selected from several in stock) SR5 "single-H". IMHO, the single-H is, by far, the best model, because it's the only one that has series mode, and for me, that's a must-have on these.

On that note, the reason I say that is because in the "classic" parallel mode, it sounded great for slap, but tended to get lost in a mix a little easier than I'd like. Series mode seemed to add the meat that made that problem go away.

To me, the Sadowsky's tone is not really directly comparable to an SR, but to compare them in their ability to cut through a mix, my Sadowsky blew the SR5 away... all three modes. It has a cool slap tone, but it's a little harder to dial in something as "sweet" sounding as the SR's parallel mode, but since I don't slap a lot, that's kinda' moot for me.

I also know what you mean about the "weak G string". I don't want to get the SR folks up in arms over this, but I did notice, at least relatively speaking, compared to the Sadowsky, I seemed to lose a bit more presence going up on the high strings on the SR, but not the Sadowsky.

IMHO/FWIW

A friend emailed me this cool photo of me soloing on my new "old" Sadowsky. I gotta say this bass plays like buttah! With 20 years of playing on it, it is well broken in! This really is the oldest bass I have ever owned....and loving it!

Dude, you act quickly!!

Haha, I've been following these basses for a few years now. Always been a fan, never really had the funds. This summer I've been fortunate enough to have an influx of cash coming my way so I'm very happy for that. I also found a great TB'er selling one at a great price, who was willing to work with me a little bit (only being paid once a month sucks).

I didn't want to be too vocal about it since it isn't "mine" yet, but I did put a nice down payment on it and will pay it off on the first.

Huge props to TB'er Freddy-G!
