I'd wager a guess that the reason for the push/pull knob over the switch is because it's SLIGHTLY less labor/parts and in keeping with statements I've read where Roger envisioned the passive operation of his basses as a 'last option' in case your battery ran out, and thus not something that would be used hardly at all. Which is strange because these basses sound PHENOMENAL when set passive. Could be wrong though!!!!!!

hmm.... I simply prefer a toggle switch for active/passive... never dig the push/pull idea.... hahaha

I agree, if given the choice I'd take the switch over the push/pull knob as well. If I ever find myself in the position to order a custom Sadowsky I will get that option too.

I normally run my sadowsky bass with only slightly bass/tre boost just for different room acoustic needs, I can actually run it passive and sounds good too....

Roger's basses sounds good at passive to me already, preamp is just a tool for me if I want more power or fits the room acoustic. 60-70% of my playing time can run the bass in passive.

Might be, or it may just be the cleaner look that you get with the push/pull. I prefer that. But, I don't use the passive a great deal.

We have the same taste. Its Braz and it looks just like what you would find on an old late 50's early 60's J or P bass. For some reason I prefer none figured dark braz. Nostalgia maybe.
