Now I was in the position that I did not get 7 days when I ordered my fretless. Fretless and lefthand basses are "special" order so the 7 day rule does not apply. BUT, I damn well made sure I did my homework before I ordered it. The only other Sadowsky I had played up to that point was my '88 SWR. Believe me when I say I got allot of good information here on this forum, and Kevin over at Sadowsky was a great help. Also a trip to Brooklyn helped!

Long story short....got the bass and absolutely loved it! Had it for a year now and it is still magic!

Your trial period is truly generous, Roger, as I stated earlier in the thread. My argument is merely with the assertion that 7 days should be enough for everyone.

At walk through today for worship, I actually had a bid of a revelation concerning is issue.

I tend to play with the neck slightly to moderately elevated. That is, the head stock is higher than the body. It helps with my elbow posture and wrist alignment and is generally better for my technique. When I position the bass, the off-set waist of the jazz style aligns so that the body contours are exactly where they are supposed to be.

I am thinking that if you play like this, the J style may be preferable, but if you tend wear the bass more perpendicular to the body and maybe a little lower, more of a rock style, you might be inclined to prefer the P body.

Do you mean the lower body contours of the J-design? It seems that the upper contours where the right arm anchors is relatively similar between designs. Personally the way the bottom portion of the P shape anchors against my pelvis is crucial to obtaining that 'angled' position you speak of and that I also prefer. At least on MY body.

That lower extension on the J design seemed to always get in my way. And yet, I lay my PJ5 more perpendicular on the rare occasion I'm playing pickstyle, and I DO agree with you that this position seems easier on the P body.

Well, to be fair, you're the first person I've ever seen complain that it's not enough time to make a purchase decision. I wonder how many people really have this much trouble given that time frame. I just find it hard to believe I'm all that special.

Jolly Old Nick kinda stiffed me this year, but I'm guessing that it might have to do with me already owning two NYCs. I think any more would be pushing my luck. I haven't been THAT nice this year . . .
