My daughter is almost six years old and still can't answer a yes or no question. Ask her where she wants to go eat, and she might say "Men's Wearhouse" or "Parking" or "Haircut."
I changed three poopy diapers within the space of one hour today. She said "all done poopy," then went right back and crapped herself again. Then she says "Why you poop your diaper?" over and over and over again.
It's a little like having a toddler version of "Rain Man," but without the ability to count cards, etc.. She talks constantly, but says essentially the same things over and over and over, like a parrot. It's almost impossible to teach her anything, as she just cannot focus.
She's the sweetest little girl you would ever meet, giving hugs and kisses to complete strangers, and she is incredibly beautiful, with an irrepressible spirit. I love her more than words can express.
In all likelihood, she will never live an independent existence.

Here's a complaint that I have that I have wanted to get off my chest for a very long time...
I hate it when im doing community service at Goodwill and those old, white trash, granny's are rummiging through the cart of crap that im trying to stock on the shelves! *** WOMEN!!! I DIDN'T PULL THIS CART OUT HERE FOR YOU! OH, AND ALSO... STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE JUNK THERE, IM DOING COMMUNITY SERVICE... IM NOT EMPLOYED AT THIS P.O.S. PLACE!

My wife used to teach autistic children before the conditions of the school she taught at made her so ill (mold, chemicals) that she had to give up teaching.
We (he's my step son, but I don't think of him that way - he just has two dads) have a 17 year old with cerebral palsy, he's a quadrapalegic, can barely move his head, and can't speak. He too, will never be able to live an independant existance.

Speaking of soapbox - *** is with these people that have the unmitigated audacity to "pray" over him in public??? Some even get offended when we tell them not to do so, as it upsets him (he just wants to be treated like a PERSON, not a problem!
). I've even heard one person say "well, maybe if he and his parents would accept JESUS into his life, he would be healed!" 
He's a smart, sweet, funny kid, and he will never know the joy of simply walking from the couch to the kitchen on his own, he can't even go to the bathroom or eat without someone doing it for him. I just want to scream at these people: "If your God and your Jesus are so wonderful, why is he this way in the first place?!?!?!?"
If you're truly worried about a person with severe disabilities, don't give lip service to it (i.e. "pray for them"), get off your wide, fat @$$ and donate your TIME to them.

especially when you're the one having it. I'm smart, freakishly so, but have weird emotional reactions and stuff. whenever I get frustrated, or annoyed, I start crying. involuntarily. of course, that makes me even more frustrated and annoyed, and you can see where this is going. also, I have a "overdeveloped" sense of justice, according to most definitions of aspergers. I have a strong sense of justice, but don't see why there's any reason a very strong sense of justice is "overdeveloped".
luckily, certain concepts do not exist in my brain. I can understand them, but they do not affect me. one is "cuteness" (I think bunnies are evil). another is "stage fright"

I used to live almost completely off cabohydrates, but now I have to cut them out of my diet.

Hey, it does happen! My high school required 2 half-credit art classes you Freshman year. We had a student teacher take over for the second class. The regular teacher would be there to advise her and everything; but about 3 weeks into the class, he said that she would be taking over completely. No, you should have told me that I needed to retake the class after all. You had 3 years of scheduling my classes, why in the hell did you wait untill 2 weeks before graduation?
Didn't graduate on time because of that.
i guess i don't have much to complain about, i am getting frustrated that my jamman and BSW aren't really selling...

Ok, so this actually happened on Friday, and I'm over it now, but...I got a bit behind on bills the last 2 months (it happens...), electric bill in particular.
So last Friday I get a bill from the electric company that says I'm scheduled for a disconnection on 6/9/06, which was that day. I realize it's my fault in the first place, but, gee...thanks for the warning there, guys! And they mailed it on Thursday, but the statement date on the bill was 6/2/06. So they printed it, sat on it for a few days so I wouldn't get it untill it was too late; then they can charge me all the extra fees.

Me thinks you need to just observe a little more, and not post in every thread you see. Chill out dude, TB aint going anywhere. Go play with your child, give your wife some attention, do something!!!
Maybe your behind so much on your electric bill because your on TB so much?! Maybe you needed to have your electric turned off and that was God's way of saying "You are posting too much on TalkBass".

I don't really care all that much, but I just don't understand why you post so much? For the first 6 months on TB I did most of my time on here observing, and learning. I imagine the majority of people did the same. It just erks me is all, I don't have some grudge against you or anything.

supporting membership is completely voluntary, and maybe Jeff has more important things to pay for like a house, or food or heat or something...i think any adult can understand that...

I know supporting membership is completely voluntary, that really wasnt the point I was getting at. I also never said I don't enjoy him here. Like I said, it just erks me and I don't understand it one bit.
