For sure. People are getting better about hockey down here, but this is still a football country.

If they started playing American football at the Olympics, as long as the USA got the gold, that is about all we would care about.

Too bad Kane and Parise were the only offensive threats on the USA side today. Dustin Brown showed flashes here and there, but the USA was just outgunned this go around. That and a stifling Canadian defense. The Canadian forecheck was most impressive as well.

One thing I learned this last couple weeks, I like Rafalski more now than I did before. I still don't like Rick Nash though, nothing to do with him being Canadian. I just don't get the hype.

Don't get Nash? He can score, he can shoot, he can hit, he can play amazing defense and he can skate. What more do you want in a player? Not to mention that he was one of Canada's most dangerous players in the last four games.

I must congratulate our American neighbours, you guys put up a great fight, well Miller did. It was a game worth winning and it spiked my blood pressure. Canada, it is our game.

The US would win football probably everytime and every game... I wonder if that's why they dont include football in the Summer Olympics? Because every game the US played would be a blowout.

Or because American style Football is only played in about 3 or 4 countries in the world. It is the same reason that Lacrosse isn't in the Olympics. Although I still can't figure out why Squash isn't in the Olympics.

It was thrilling to see our boys in red bring home the gold, but man, ours wasn't the only great team.

The Americans put out such an outstanding effort that I truly felt bad for them when it ended. If anything, they showed slightly better puck control; and their spirit and determination were inspiring. Be proud of them, USA!

I didn't see many games, but the Swiss and the Slovaks played way above expectations as well. Terrific stuff.

Vive le hockey international! :^}

When it went into OT, all I could think was "if it goes to a shoot-out, Ryan Miller is going slam the door on us".

I think team Canada thought the same thing because they came out on fire in OT.

What a nail-biter, what amazing hockey from both teams, what a way for Canada to cap off an amazing Olympics (the city is going to seem kind of sad tomorrow).

And congrats to our neighbours to the south for a truly impressive overall medal haul.

It was quite the game. I threw up all over myself when the U.S. tied it with less than 30 seconds to play. The U.S. were not expected to medal so kudos to them. You could see the disappointment on the U.S. players' faces when they were getting their medals.

But the pressure that the Candian team played under was enormous. If you aren't Canadian it is just impossible to fathom what this game meant to our entire nation.

This truly will be a "where were you when Crosby scored" moment for many years to come for us Canadians.

And boo to the "Amerrogance" poster. No need for that IMHO!

I don't know about every other Canadian, but I can't even explain how patriotic I felt last night while the anthem was on. The feeling that we were standing, with beer in hand, singing the national anthem as a nation. Just CRAZY.

There's no denying the U.S. played one HELL of a game. I almost **** myself when U.S. scored in the last 25 seconds.

GOOD GAME U.S!

Now, what bothers me is the stupidity that goes on when something like this happens. Not stupidity with the athletes, but stupidity with normal everyday citizens like members of this forum. Instead of congratulations we get people posting stupid posters. It doesn't matter which side of this you're on, there is no need for this kind of crap.
So, as a gesture from a true Canadian....contrats to the US hockey team for making this a game worth winning. You guys fought hard in coming back from a 2 goal deficit to take this game into overtime. Miller was the best goalie in the Olympics by far. Great tournament and a great game.

Agreed, and right back at ya. Hey, we lost, but there is no other team on the planet more worthy to lose to, IMHO.
Good job Canada and we'll get you next time! :)
