Also OP doesn't have a clue about what a cover band actually does. Its simple, you play songs the audience wants to hear for money, NOT what you want to hear or think is cool to play. i know, i know. i can't imagine criticizing a list of songs at an audition. besides the songs the OP wanted to dump because he felt they wouldn't go over well might go over just great with the right crowd.

no, but if a band has a band LEADER, they... um... lead the band. if someone wants to always have a say in things, they join a democratic band, not a band with a BL.

If you pretty much want to slant things towards failure when attempting to work with other musicians, this would make a good chapter.

As a band leader, do whatever you want. There are things that can definitely be ill-advised but hey, it's your ball. And failure can be a great teacher. For some.

As a sideman... remember... you're not the frickin' band leader.

Well, you just have everyone and everything figured out, don’t you? I saw the same issue, I just didn’t see the need to approach it in the way the majority of the responders handled it, is that OK?

EDIT: You care enough to go back and read / re-read of this? Sure you do, you’ve got over 10 responses in this thread alone! Wish I had that kind of time.

There's that old term "beating a dead horse", this thread is like a disturbed child who wants to mutilate the dead horse and take home parts of it after because the beating wasn't enough.

I always thought bass players were better than this?!

TB has 266,000 registered members. At any one point in time there are thousands of members online. Anyone asking a question, especially one as caustic as the OP, is likely to get pages and pages of responses.

Just thought you'd like a little perspective. You can stack it up and use it to get off your high horse. ;) joking......

Not only that, but from the logistics of covering a QUeen song this is one of the FEW that most cover bands could handle the instruments and the vocals. Unless you have the greatest vocals ever and a GREAT keyboardist you aren't going to be covering many Queen songs. The only one I have ever done is Another One Bites the Dust, but we couldn't quite figure out what to do for the bridge where it has all the sound effects.
