@Alik I am not for Kid free homes!! What I meant was I can’t believe some people would think a kid free home is a good thing ..:everyone was a kid at some point in their life...I love my kids and I would not trade them for anything in the world!!! And they are grown now and not kids anymore...
A kid free home is just not a home, imho.
You're welcome to your opinions, but my home is very much a home to my partner, our cats and I.A kid free home is just not a home, imho.
I get your frustration.... but... I'd look-up the "IMHO" thing before I'd place a comment. So how about this slight amendment: "A kid-free home is just not a home for me."
A kid free home is just not a home, imho.
Oh, I know what it means, but there's nothing humble about an opinion like that.I get your frustration.... but... I'd look-up the "IMHO" thing before I'd place a comment.![]()
If I translate it to dutch, both statements say: "Naar mijn mening, is een kinderloos huis geen thuis."Oh, I know what it means, but there's nothing humble about an opinion like that.
Then again, Millennials are re-interpreting it as "In My Honest Opinion," which makes more sense to me anyway - if you have an opinion worth expressing, why make a show of being humble about it?
Echt nietIf I translate it to dutch, both statements say: "Naar mijn mening, is een kinderloos huis geen thuis."
I don't even see the difference.![]()
You reminded me of that Trainspotting scene. Heroin never has appealed to me, for some reason
+1Why not? If two people feel no need to conform to some vague societal directive, and want to live their lives accordingly, why is that any less valid? They can still create a home, for themselves, their friends, and extentended family members(if they wish). Why should parenthood be compulsory, and why would it be an any less fullfilling life, if not? Contributions to society and humanity can be made in all sorts of different ways. Just having kids does not automatically make a home, and there are plenty of people who have no business being parents.
Does anyone actually take the time to read this diarrhea of the keyboard? When I see and ad like this I just go on to the next one.I don't know if this qualifies as dumb/misleading/outlandish, but it's different although a bit verbose:

Drummer, Bass Player, Rhythm Guitar - Paid Gig next Fall (Ft Myers)
View attachment 3846030
I'm advertising to connect with three local (FL) musicians: a drummer and bass player (ideally a combination who have a solid existing and current re pore/foundation with each other), and a rhythm guitarist.
I do apologize here for the amount of prose which follows (a bit of a 'manifesto', if you will), however if you cannot read thru what I have written, you are probably not a fit.
My project will be to record and video 15 original songs and 5 specific covers over the course of an extended weekend sometime this fall (mid-2-late October-ish). All of the songs have already been recorded and mastered studio quality. We will be tracking them as a live interpretation. In total, there exist 4 CDs of original material, from which these 15 specific songs are a subset. Initially we will work toward getting solid recordings (most will happen within 2-3 takes if we gel and jive...) and then we will attempt an actual uninterrupted presentation of however many feel right to make a live set.
This will be a paid gig, though probably for a while yet I cannot say how much. One reason I am advertising locally is to find some cost savings which could be applied toward payment for all; which will include camerapeople, an engineer and others yet TBD, but inevitable... I'm self-financing (so far), as I have each CD thru their full life-cycles; though the scope of this is beyond what I have invested into all of my CDs combined. My pockets are not overly deep; but I do also believe that if I don't put my money where my mouth is (literally), who will?
My desire would be that a trio of serious respondents can be agreed to a commitment toward this end; and perhaps open to explore whatever additional opportunities might materialize down the road that one day might also cross some international waters.
Upon mutual agreement, my expectations would include occasional communications to confirm progress and certainly at least one face to face early on; by which point you would understand I am for real and will make it happen if I say I will unless something occurs completely beyond my control or abilities to adapt. Money won't be an obstacle; because I will know the budget and have financing committed in the near future.
Serious responses should demonstrate your own seriousness of purpose. What recordings could provide me some character about you? What live history can you share and was any of it presenting original, and how long back was it?
If all that you can provide is cover material I'm fine to check it out. I wouldn't factor the overall sound of a cover band with respect to listening for an individual member, for this reason alone: If I didn't think I was the best at what I do, I would not still be at it with a passion this many years long already. No cover band singer can come near to what I can do.
I am Original, period. My voice is unique and my words present a perspective unlike any other. The music tracked to these words is also original, thanks to the various combinations of players (and cities) involved as well as the amount of individual instrumental diversity of tone and style. I do not mean to sound arrogant at all (tho' it ain' braggin' if you can back it up), but I write this to emphasize that I am looking for people who have their own style, yet can sync well w/ a group and groove; and from the first track; because the recording gear will be set up and running from just after someone sits down at a drum kit or plugs into an amp (virtual or freestanding).
Time will be tight, as it always is, yet everyone will have four months for personal preparation - that is the point of payment and for your own personal investment, really. To my credit (if I do say so myself, though others will be involved in this who have worked with me long term and who will testify that I have never bounced them a check and payment has always been mutual and understood in advance). No paid (or unpaid, for that matter) musician has walked away from anything I have tracked and felt like a mercenary, and I do not expect any to feel that way who are willing and able to participate in this next adventure. My end goal for this ad is to connect with professional caliber players who also have demonstrated personal integrity. I'm hardly an ageist, but if specific sonic references in this ad do not register with you, you are probably not right for the gig.
I have no delusions, but I do have dreams; and why not consider that this "time capsuled one time event" might become something for more than just an online audience to experience? An interview with Neil Young has stayed in my head for several decades or longer and the gist of it as applies right now is this: For me to find the reason to my adult life every rule about being a rock star must be broken and entirely new rules written. I've got an outstanding sense of humor and I can certainly laugh at myself. But this ain't no joke.
Initially, I will respond back to your CL response with one mp3. My material is quite varied so do not assume that every other track is in a similar vein. I realize that comparisons are unavoidable and often quite helpful initially so perhaps the diversity might be akin to Queen's catalog.
If you dig that lone track and want to hear a bit more I will expect you to contact me back and provide an actual email for further initial mutual consideration. I don't expect an instant commitment to be made by either of us, but would figure it to run a couple of weeks for each of us to agree to how to proceed. I've been here before and my most recent material was tracked several songs at a time, no rehearsal beyond the studio time booked but demos provided to communicate structures and vibes, etc... I've always believed that at some point I would present my material live. Only now have I produced enough of a legitimate catalog that I feel ready to introduce myself, so to speak...
Additional reference points: Preference would be given to a bassist who has slapped and bent a bit of Jaco and Flea; a drummer who understands Jason Bonham and The Roots Band; and a rhythm player who respects Brad Whitford and The Eagles with regard to blending multiple and distinctive guitar parts.
I am not from here or from several different flyover places I have lived periods of my life, but I live in SWFL now and this event will take place within these parts at a place called The Paisley Everglades. Don't try to find it right now; October will put it on the map.
There’s always a certain entertainment value in it.Does anyone actually take the time to read this diarrhea of the keyboard? When I see and ad like this I just go on to the next one.
Yup, I remember the old days when you paid by the word. When I first started out as a sideman I'd scour classifieds in print publications (cause that's all there was). LA Weekly, The Recycler, Music Connection, etc. The space limitation necessitated brevity. So, at the risk of some back-in-MY-day grumpiness?
