Craigslist ads. Have fun.

This thread is too funny... so I just checked my local CL musicians ads, and this is one of the first that came up, replete with pic of a Jimi Hendrix poster:

Excellent Electric Bass Looking for Rock Musicians (Long Island based)

View attachment 3839893
Hi I am placing this ad to take back my freedom....Bass influences include James Jamerson, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Jaco, Marcus Miller, Chuck Rainey, Verdine White, Carol Kaye, Peter Cetera, Victor Wooten...I will no longer comply and submit to the absolutely insane, demonic, anti USA , anti God psychopaths... ... If you are interested in playing, whether it be forming a pro level cover band or just to jam, hit me up... NO masks, no gloves, no bull.... I am expertly versed in ALL MUSIC from 1964-1990 and beyond, but looking to play music from that time period...Rock, Funk, Disco, Fusion, Motown, etc etc....Lately been into Zep, Chicago, Steely Dan, Hendrix, 70s Prog...LIVE FREE OR DIE.

I was interested in playing with this guy but he lost me with the "No Mask" comment. I would have to remain anonymous I was if I was in his band.

Especially with Guitar Honey:

saw an ad online once - Bass Guitar, needs minor repair - the neck had been broken.... like they had loaned it to Pete Townsend or something.

Saw another ad for a drum kit - the ad said "has been painted to look really cool".... the drum kit had been painted including the lugs, skins and cymbal stands!

My favorite CL musicians wanted ads are (former) band members continuing their feud on CL as the band looks to replace a member and that former member looks for another band. I’ve seen epic screeds when it really catches its stride.

How about when the ad says...Comes from a smoke, pet and Kid free home...Kid free? That irks me
I went to this local music store and noticed a very low priced bass case. Fender, molded. I thought I had scored big until I asked to check the interior. Man, it had the most disgusting, repulsive odor I have ever smelled! A mix of beer, smoke, urine, etc not to mention a lot of bad gone attempts of cleaning up feces. Total deal breaker. Left the store almost puking :dead:
I'm with you on the kid free home, though :cautious:

@Alik I am not for Kid free homes!! What I meant was I can’t believe some people would think a kid free home is a good thing to say when selling a bass , like that would make it A better instrument....:everyone was a kid at some point in their life...I love my kids and I would not trade them for anything in the world!!! And they are grown now and not kids anymore...

That must have been the CBGB’s tribute edition.

I'm still dubious about how bad those basses really are. Look at Khruangbin, their bassist has been using an sx jazz like that for years and she has wonderful tone
Who said they were bad? In their new price range, they deliver; I’d choose those over Squiers. Granted(and as with Squiers), there’s a few things you could upgrade, according to taste.

Unrelated to basses, but I once sold an item that I described as honestly as possible, general consensus "acceptable". Price-wise, I got out of it what I expected and wanted.

Later I found out that I sold it to a reseller that listed the same item as "mint" and actually sold it for nearly double the price.

There's a sucker born every minute... but I wonder if that's me in this story.

No! You seem to be honest. That store, putscit reputation on the line, you did not.

There seems to be a connotation that some Asian import instruments are of mass produced, that is to say, substandard quality. I’ve personally never played an SX, but I’d love to get my hands on a squier bass vi
