Cadillac CTS-V needed for a beginning Cadillac driver. My wife drives a Cadillac and I promised her that we would drive together by the end of this year. I'm looking for someone to DONATE a Cadillac that I can LEARN on. It doesn't have to be in perfect condition. I just need something to start with. No scams please!!! Only respond if you are serious. I offer them work all the time. In years I haven't had a single taker. The usually say "It will mess up my disability checks if you pay me to work. Can you just spare a few bucks anyway?" :scowl:
our local radio station has a 30 minute show called Tradio. People call it to advertise if have something they want to buy, trade, or sell. There are always people looking for donations. Everything from shoes for kids to couches and stoves. You'd be surprised how many people have these items and just want it gone. Hell, I got a free 15'x4' round swimming pool with tons of filters and chemicals for free. It was only a year old. I just had to dismantle it.
I don't give handouts to beggars for a variety of reasons. However, I would like to point out that if you begin any sentence about a population as diverse as "the homeless" with the words "they are all just...." then you are probably about to start talking out of your ass. I can't believe how many of you are naive enough to believe that highway beggars are a class of shrewd con-artists pulling down 50k a year because you saw it on TV, when it is plainly obvious to most everybody else that they are mostly mentally ill, completely disenfranchised, or otherwise devoid of resources. I know a lot of you kool aid drinkers like to imagine that everyone deserves exactly what they get, but c'mon.
As for the bass, I have had a half-dozen free instruments come my way and I have passed most of them along, but to friends who really wanted or needed them. I don't know if I would go to too much trouble to respond to a plea like the OP described. It kind of sounds like a waste of a bass to me. I love those local call-in radio shows, and I have obtained and recycled tons of free stuff through Freecycle, CL, list-servs, etc.

People will believe anything they see on TV. Esp if it's convenient to their world view. That being said, this is a BS ad. Guy wants a free bass. You'd think if he had no money or options his wife would give him an extension. Like maybe, get an income first, then worry about learning an instrument.

Oh- this thread again? (Unfortunately) I've been thinking about it; specifically the story about bums making $50K TAX FREE!!!! standing on freeway off ramps taking handouts. I call total BS.

I think its BS. I would help someone I know, and have several times, by lending gear for years at a pop. But just as there are alot of people here defending this guy, what if it is a scam and he will take the donated bass(es) and turn around and sell them? How much would a used SX cost? Im sure this person has a vice or two that he could sacrifice for a short period of time to pay for a bass.
Personally, and I'm sad to say, I always look the other way. IMO, if your beggin, your a bum or a theif.

Anyone here ever been robbed? The feeling you get when you come home and all your sh!t is ransacked, stolen, all because some BUM didnt want to get a job.
Is anyone here going to justify the guy/s who broke into my house and stole thousands of dollars worth of sh!t because they were hungry or their kids needed to eat? Or wanted a "cold beer"?
