Thanks for all the kind words, guys. :D

RLK - All of the Sei designs (Original, Flamboyant, the 2 Singlecuts and the Jazz) really have that flowing feel to them. I opted for a simple, passive one knob approach, others prefer more pickups, eq and midi !!

I've worked out with Chris what this bass will built like. I'm going with the "Flame" bass. It will be done up in flames from the headstock, fretboard, body, pup covers, ramp, the whole nine yards.

There will be no paint on this bass, it will all be be done with different pieces of wood. The headstock & body will be a lighter color, while the fretboard will be done up in darker woods. I've never seen a bass built this way, so I figured I'd give it a whirl. Chris is up for the challenge.

After seeing his shop while I was there, I noticed that there was a lot of left over pieces of wood hanging around. So I thought this might be a good way to recycle some of his old wood that's just looking for a home.

I still have a long way to go, so I'll just wait to see what idea's he comes up with.

Now, the long road awaits.

Hey man, I just saw the preowned bass that you almost bought on the Fodera site....that's Tony Vaughn's old bass...he lives around here. Great guy and a great player. That's one of the first 6's I believe...it's the one on the Fodera string packs but with the updated pickups and preamp. Cool.

I still like the Garrison shape much more.

i studied with matt my first semseter, very unhappy with the results. 1 i dont think i'm at a level where i can really get any thing out of it, 2 i dont think he's that great of a teacher. many would agree with 2, but i think i have some growing to do as a player before i get to a level where i can really keep up with what he has his students do.

I went to NYC for a lesson with Matt a couple of years ago. It was a great lesson but didn't make it back for another. He certainly is a great guy though. He even remembered me months later when I saw him play in Switzerland.

Who's your teacher now?

matts a fantastic person. right now i'm studying with dave buda. he's cool he's working with what i need help on. what i really need is to start playing w/ ppl more

Buda's a trip man! Great player. I hear he's a great teacher....

Yup, playing with others...there just is no substitute. You're certainly in the right school for that. Book as many sessions as you can and give everyone your number. Make sure to get yourself into some ensembles. That'll be huge. Good luck brother!

If you get a chance, come out and see the group that I'm in called Choose to Find. We'll be doing more and more dates around town. For a taste go to www.ourstage.com and click on "more clips". Look for Choose to Find: Honesty. They cut out the good stuff (the improv section) but you'll get the idea.

I have 3 basses Im waiting to upgrade. One Peavey TL-6 is getting the fretboard epoxied. Im waiting on Bill Lawrence pickups and an Audere pre to arrive in the mail for my other TL-6. Im also waiting for a John East U Retro deluxe 5 knob pre, to put in my Peavey Rudy Sarzo bass.
They all 3 will be nice custom basses when Im through.

Waiting is so hard though :crying:

So any ways epic win on my part. Monday the 16th i went to NY to visit the Fodera shop. I was looking at a used 1993 AJ6 model that they have on their site. so i get there and i'm check it out, i offer them a bit less than what the origional owner wanted to sell it for. They said thats fine with them and they said they're going to set it up for me while i go about town with some of my friends.

So we go eat, and decide to come back and see what the wait time would be for me to come back and pick up the bass. I get there and Mika, says "I'm glad you're back we have to talk" i say ' ok' the rest of the convo i'm was sworn to secrecy about, but i didnt end up getting the bass i had origional went there for.

But i did get this

Kobaia, those Foderas look great, especially the second one with the stripy top (:eek:). I am really looking forward to progress pictures.

Jonah, I wish my doorbell would ring like yours did. One very tasty bass there and a lovely choice of woods. :bassist: :bassist:

Geez, there's some awesome basses on here. Although I have to say that I'm glad not to be waiting anymore !!

Joe Burski - That sounds like a great project and is going to be stunning. I've seen some of the Conklin 'melted' tops before, but your spec looks to be taking that one step further !!

I've been reading the forum on D. Huff's page occasionally, unbelievable. Almost ordered a bass from him last year, I'm so glad the forum was added to his page.

They are pretty though, put the wait time is way too much for me.

Got the AV-bass in three months, could have gotten it some two weeks earlier but we had to wait for the case to be finished. And the cost for the bass? 1080eur, about $1400. I wanted the Kahler trem, so that was added to the basic price. The $1400 basic price included all the electronics, and would have included a normal bridge.

I really hope that you will get your bass soon. Maybe you could get a similar AV-bass and play it while you are waiting the DHuff ;)
