The bass I'm building right now has a Goncolo Alves top and I'm dropping DC's with a Aggie pre............how do you like it? What controls did you go with?

Well, I posted a picture in the roscoe board a while ago, but I figured I should put it here, too...

Roscoe LG3005 Lefty. Walnut Top, Spanish Cedar back, Rainbow diamondwood lined fretless fingerboard, Bartolini Pickups and 3-band EQ.

this is with the 1st coat applied; more finishing needs to be done, and I assume has been done since this picture was taken about two weeks ago.

I am in with three Skjolds in the current batch (plus an F Bass BN5 ).

Well, as some of you are aware, Pete Skjold now offers a line of more 'traditional' looking basses. They follow his standard construction techniques and use similar hardware and electronics, but have a more traditional look about them. He has two models, the more 'jazzy' looking Lion's Pride, and the as of yet unnamed (?) 'precise' model. Me being me, I have one of each on order. Here are some progress shots of my Lion's Pride 5:

I also have a custom Skjold "P-Bass", which will have a solid (2-piece, but no top) mahogany body, 3-piece maple neck and an ebony board. I will likely go passive, with a C4 pickup specially wired to give me series/parallel for both sets of coils, but also options for 'regular P' and 'reverse P' using different sets of coils from each of the split coil pickups located within the C4.

I'm wating for my second AV bass. Here's the design of it:

Some specs: 5 string fretless neck through, mahogany body, root alder top, root maple back, matching headstock, Ebony fretboard with custom wood inlays, High gloss polyester finish including fretboard, Kahler Tremolo for 5 string, 34" scale, 36 frets (well ,it's fretless but you know what i mean ) Propably i forgot a lot but i can put them here later.

Now 3-6 months wait

I have three Skjolds in the works right now. First up is a Lion's Pride (Pete's 'jazzy' model ), with an ash body, highly figured redwood top, 3-piece maple neck, and birdseye maple board. So, far, all we have is a rough cut body:

Next up, we have a custom 'precise' 4-string. It will be mahogany body (no top), 3-piece maple neck, ebony board, and a custom C4 pickup, with options for both sets of coils in series, both sets in parallel, mixed coils from both sets in a 'regular P-bass' configuration, and mixed coils in a 'reverse P' configuration.

And finally, we have a really fun bass - 10-string, in octaves. I had been talking with Pete for a while about this, and we were going to go with an 8-string, based upon not being able to find an acceptable 10-string bridge, but Pete found one, and now we are back in business! It'll likely be a 34" scale instrument. Body is spanish cedar, top is high grade flamed anigre, neck TBD, and fingerboard also TBD, though pau ferro is a leading candidate.

No 'pre-cut' or 'figure-enhanced' shots, but here is the rough cut body:

Yep! Ales, the luthier ov AV basses, has the policy that both sides sign an agreement where are all the specs and everything and also the building time. Minimum 3 months maximum 6 months. If it takes more than that he will refund you half of the bass price But luckily it usually takes 3-4 months

Got some progress pics on my Laggan Fretless 7.
Actually looking like something!

Russ put some oil on to show the figuring.
I finally have to agree the new maple top is an improvement.
The piece wound up being very solid, the body is now a higher % of maple than wenge.
