Body.

Old growth salvaged redwood. Passed on sinker redwood because most of the really stiff tops I could find lacked any sort of grain.

New KR acoustic guitar in the works. This one will "only" have 6 strings, no cutaway, and a MUCH less aggressive fan than my 7 string. The fan on this will be 25.75"-25", which should be a good all around guitar for regular and open tunings. The funny thing is that if I were smarter about the fan on my 7 string (27"-25"), I probably wouldn't need to order this. Barre chords in the lower positions are a tad challenging.

Thanks. It should be a nice compliment to my 7 string by the same builder. The lack of cutaway should add a little more depth to the tone. It also has a nice ziricote back and sides which I didn't download before my builder ordered it.

Without the cutaway, the symmetry of the body is very much like a Spanish guitar, which I love.

Without the cutaway, the symmetry of the body is very much like a Spanish guitar, which I love.

The shape and bookmatched top should have a neat symmetry to them. I have a feeling the offset sound hole, forearm bevel, and fanned frets might throw that off a bit.

Again, bass ordered in the middle of March, so progress has been impressive. Should be less than 4 month turnaround!

Once this one comes in I'll have to figure out how to get back in the support group. Nothing slows down time like being on a wait list, and at my age I need to slow time down as much as possible.

Aw yeah! Fantastic. I think I'm visiting Martin in a couple weeks...was hoping to check it out, but it looks like it might be gone before I get there. I keep thinking about getting a six string from him.

Zircote has one of the most beautiful grain patterns imo. I ask Rob if I could use it as a fingerboard on the elrick im having built and he told me he does not recommend it ....so I went with macassar. Beautiful wood pieces spade
