We have seven or eight originals ready to go. I'm going to play full drumkit on one cut and play either conga or cajon on the others. I think that I'm going to use one of my vintage Slingerland kits with a 24" bass drum. I'll bring a couple of snare drums along to see which records best for this purpose. Our intent is to record each song as live as possible although we intend on adding our background vocals later.

Thanks - these are the ones you suggested I try on my A/E bass, right? I have D'Addario flats on it right now. I like the feel of the flats, but I'm still not happy with it yet. I have the action crazy low on all my electrics, and the A/E action is way higher. I haven't figured out how to change that yet - so it's quite an adjustment, but I'll get there.

Yes. They have kind of a "woody" sound (no woody pun intended) for want of a better term, because the nylon tape winding takes away some of the metallic sound that metal wound strings, even flats, have.

That particular bass is what I use when it's a jazz gig at a place that can't physically accomodate an upright, which includes tonight's gig - which is a once a month thing so I need a bass guitar that's right for the job.

Thanks Chuck. Feral is a simple acoustic cover project with a good friend. Nothing tough, just for fun. We are just a couple of buddies playing music we grew up with with an acoustic twist. People seem to like it and there is no pressure in it.


The Green Ridge Runners is a chance to play simple music really well with really good musicians. It is a much more "serious" group. As such, we all are really excited by it. They are great guys to hang with too, but every time we play together they impress me.
