I am thinking serious Neck Dive on that bass.

Busy day today, started fixing all the outdoor hoses, washed the little lady's car, hit the hardware store for stuff, went to the library, copied tax stuff, mailed tax stuff, went home, fixed hoses, went to hardware store again for O-rings for the hose reel, washed my car, stopped at the grocery store, went back home, figured out the hose reel has 2 different size O rings on the same shaft, went back to hardware store, stopped at grocery for a side of sockeye salmon, back home, finally got all the leaks fixed, installed a manifold valve and added a new hose line to the back, screwed in some hangers to hold the hose out of sight below the deck.

Then fixed all the hardware on my garbage shed that was falling off, realized the fascia was loose on the shed, and refastened that, cleaned up all the outside stuff and got all the tools in.

Next the shower valve was stiff, I disassembled the mixing valve and the O ring I installed a couple of months ago from the Speakman valve repair kit was beginning to rip up, never was a smooth fit. I lubed the ring, but when I reassembled it the valve shaft leaks at the bonnet when you turn it on. So in the morning, I have to run for the 4th time to get - O rings.

Now my back hurts, my legs hurt and my feet hurt.

I decided to antique a pine picture frame for a picture I like of my grandfather and me taken on his 70th birthday in 1968. I was 16. Good pic though.

So I distress the wood (nail holes, dings etc.), burn the wood with a Bernz-o-Matic torch to give it character, then wipe off the excess carbon with a rag. I would have painted the wood a bright red of some sort, but the little paint can I opened had turned into some kind of acrylic chemical sludge.

I'll get fresh oil paint tomorrow. The next step it to paint it, let it dry thoroughly and then stain over it with a walnut or mahogany oil stain, and let that semi dry and rub it so it gets a patina and a bit rubs off. Repeat if necessary. Let dry thoroughly and the put a coat of shellac on to finish it off. Minwax satin will work too, but the shellac seems to have a nicer patina and looks more antique.

So that was my last project for myself. Whew! I need a tall one and two Advil.

Never a dull moment.

I want to see Tbird's band and also Alabaster. They're bassist lives here on TB and posted a link to their video "Overcome" and I was instantly hooked.

Sounds like quite a productive day, Thor.

My day wasn't productive. Did our usual Saturday errands (groceries) and took the kids to an egg hunt and spent more time at my in-laws than I had anticipated. They say Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, but I gotta tackle the weed infestation that is threatening to take over my backyard tomorrow.

As ridiculous as that 'Fishbass' seems to be, I would play it!

Shoe mouldings are in and the filler is drying now so I can touch up the paint (after the blind yet tonight)
Door stops are installed.
Threshold is laid out and marked, but I can't cut it till morning.
Blind is below the window and waiting for an install (that's next).
Ceiling fan is assembled and ready to be put up in the AM.
Furniture is staged.
TV is waiting for install.
Basses are whimpering in their cases and can't wait to get in.

I am SO grateful this project is almost done.

As you can tell I'm a huge Genz Benz fan, but I'm also objective. I'm going with the Neox 212 4-ohm to move some air at the upcoming gig, but I can't say I love this cab. The Schro's have a lot to offer at the size and weight.

No argument about the versatility of a Stingray 5HH. As much as I love my FNA Jazzman and as much as it fights with the 'Ray to be #1, I don't think it will ever win that fight. The 'Wick might have a very slight edge over the 'Ray in sound but, to me, the 'Ray feels more comfortable to play and I give that a slightly higher weight than tone. So slight edge to the 'Ray.

Regarding the GB, you got me thinking. I've read mostly favorable reviews on the NeoX's. Very favorable, actually, but it's good hearing a different opinion, too. I'll have to pay attention to what kind of used deals I find here since that's very likely where I'll buy. I'm looking for a decent, relatively lightweight, single cabinet to minimize the amount of stuff I have to carry, but if I have to stick with what I have now then I'll do that. My two Dr. Bass cabinets are actually very light and I do like the way they sound. But they ARE two cabinets. We'll see, I'm in no rush.
