violin is also tuned in fifths, same tuning as a mandolin. Upright bass is tuned in fourths, like, well just like a bass guitar! Y'all shouldn't hesitate to try an upright bass. All that's different is how your hands work on the instrument, but the same notes are right there for you. :bassist:

I'm willing to give double bass a go.

Practice last night went ok. Rhythm guitarist couldn't hear his amp half the time (I could hear it just fine). We're getting our set list nailed down, which is the important part.

Tat, I did roll some video, but I made the mistake of handing the camera to my 6 year old..the resulting footage will induce motion sickness.

Hey there everyone. Flight landed last night at 10. A friend picked me up and we hit the town for a while. Had a wonderful time but now I've been lying in bed for 45 minutes waiting for the excedrin to kick in and make my head stop hurting. And I didn't drink hardly anything. Lack of sleep can be the pits.

BassGen, I miss you guys too!
PA, get ready, here I come.
FM, you are spot on in your assessments, as always. And...we should text today. >:-)
Chuck, upright is in my future and I already have an instructor lined up for when I get there.

Okay. Sitting up hurts right now. Back to bed for a few more minutes.

double bass is not in the cards for me, right now. I have more instruments than I need, and I do not even play all of the ones I have. An upright would just collect dust.
I have an old Lowery church organ, that I probably have not played in 6 months... but it looks good in the corner of my great room. The good keyboard got moved into my daughter's room. I can see 9 bass and electric guitars from where I sit, and that is not all of them. . . I meed more instruments like I need a hole in my head

Hayabusas are fast..but easy to pass on the track :D

Nearly every one that I have come across at the track was piloted by a straight-line hero - wick it up on the straights and park in the corners..guess where I pass em at!

I'm sorry Mr. Bagger, but you've exceeded the allowable number of consecutive days that you can be absent from the thread without a doctors note. You'll be required to submit to a full physical examination and multiple cardiopulmonary stress tests before we can clear you for return to posting. Thank you in advance for your understanding in the matter. :D

Sincerely,

Dr. Monkey

I did not find the 'busas to be that great in corners. The longer wheel base made a tall rider (ME) feel more comfortable, but the shorter 600s could carve the twisties a lot better

OH, the hassling I would get, IF my friends saw me intelligently discussing which rice rocket cornered better...LOL

I crashed a Honda CBR600. Got a nice scar on my right calf from it. :p

No debating crotch rockets vs. hogs...lol...each one has it's place between someones legs. :D

didn't you know you rode your own. Your "Hotness" level just went up a few hundred more points

I have ridden almost every kind of bike commercially available, and many that are not. I am enough of a true motorcycle enthusiast that I can appreciate more than one style of bike...
but with that being said, the riding I like the most is loading the bike up, and traveling. A touring bike is more comfortable for what I want. I almost bought a boss hoss, but I talked myself out of it

sigh...I don't....I crashed someone else's.... If I was going to get my own (one day...lol) it probably wouldn't be a rocket...although, anything that comes with knee pads as an optional accessory is kind of tempting. :p
