I didn't know he made a bass pick-up - the acoustics pick-ups that I 've heard have been extremely good - I never heard a pick up that came close.
I just saw an RIP thread on Bill earlier...

Would the veneers make that much of a difference vs. the putty?
I read that putty can compress and might not be as stable as the veneers or plastic but I thought the point of the putty was to harden to the strength of well...wood?
If the bass is something you want to keep around, I'd send it to HG Thor at the Guitar Lab. He's in Vestal, NY. Absolutely the best fretless conversions bar none.
Tell him Derrick sent you and he may get you in faster
Nice article in the last Bass Gear.
6-Year lead time...
I'm cheap as all hell so if I can do it myself then I'm gonna try! I need a free tine project anyway![]()
Since we share other stuff here I had to add this. We made a special run of Lavender colored hockey tape for the NHL to help them promote hockey Fights Cancer awareness. Tonight is the final night of the promotion and is at none other than MSG. the Rangers have used our tape almost since we opened but this aft this shows up on Instagram and as of now is just a touch shy of 10k likes! I am very proud and humbled!

I'm sensing a disturbance in The Force.....somewhere around Atlanta I believe....

Okey dokey peoples....recovery has begun.
Cooking lasted all day and there was a ton of food. Back line set up and sound checks started about 1:00 PM. Things were already sounding good then.
Play was a round robin lineup where everyone played in each of the two sets. Local Atlanta bass soloist Darren Michaels performed songs from his CD Cumulo. Ben Titus, most recently from Milwaukee, played selections from his just released (this week) album Finding My Direction. Brittany Frompovich from Lady Bass Music in Virginia killed it with her arrangement of Eleanor Rigby. Trust me on this when I say that I've never heard an arrangement that truly brought the darkness of the lyrics to their peak like this one. Really haunting, IMHO.
Had some awesome guests, too. THand and Furry Monkey both came in for the show, as did our newest CWB poster and a couple of other talented local Atlanta bassists. Last, but not least, my friend Jayson came up from Florida for the show and a couple of neighbors dropped in.
All in all...great show and we will be doing it again soon!
More photos to follow after I get them off the phone and over to photobucket.
