Why fast?

Anybody can write a song...toddlers do it all day long, it's part of our nature.
Not everyone can write a good song...

A tip I read about years ago from Bono(who can write a good song) was to use the recording feature on your cell phone to record little bits and pieces of ideas when they occur to you.

Assignment is due Wednesday.

I carry a notepad in my purse to write down poems and lyrics. And I leave myself voicemails when random stuff just has to be heard. So I think I have that part covered - I'm just not making that connection to put it all together.

OK, you asked for it...LOL

I I have a couple pics of the back of the house and the garage, but the house really is just the background in those...I was taking pics of my 67 austin healey, and the vette...and maybe a couple of the harley too:D

Perfect. I HAVE been stalking the correct house. I waved hi at the neighbor. Did he mention me?

Lareamond - I yahoo'd and texted yesterday, but no response. You okay? I see the earlier post and it seems like the rolling boil is reduced to a slow simmer? It'll be late tonight, but I'll be on.

* Tomorrow I'm spending the morning working with a new potential music partner doing some acoustic blues work. For now, it's just hanging out to jam, but he's started talking about writing some stuff and putting together a CD/acoustic duo thing and asked if I'd be up for it. I'm excited and terrified all at the same time.

* Lastly - this week's bass homework is write an original song. My rules - 4 chords max. 3 minutes max. Stop thinking. Have fun. Some days I wonder why I pay that man to torture me, but then I remember that I like it. THand - how do I make that quirky thing that makes up stories on the fly apply to this...and fast? Anyone else with ideas - please feel free to chime in - I'm on the edge with this little assignment.

Apologies for the yahoo thing, I left it on when I went out to blow off some steam. Didn't get a text from you til this morning, and you woke me up. Couldn't reply cuz I passed out mid text. :ninja:

* Writing is a great release. Don't be scared; just think of it as writing your poems with music to them. :)

* 4 chords max? That's not much to go on. What chords are you using? I might be able to help ya a bit later on tonight if I'm on. I think I'm gonna be in the studio next door. Not sure yet.

When I first started writing music, a wise man told me, "A good bridge takes you wherever you want to go." He's been right so far. :)

You could steal someone else's song. Find a song you like. Learn it, but not too well...get the feel and the vib/attitude.
Speed it up or slow it down. Change the key. Play the chord changes or cool lick backwards.
Then re-write the words. Start with the ideas you have already collected.
By the time you are finished, you will have a brand knew song..
I thought everyone knew all great artist began as great thieves.:D

yeah, but there is a 1/2 mile dirt road to get into it...and since I am in the mountains, there is snow most winters...
here is a pic, that is the south side of my house, last year in the middle of winter...those windows are in my my hot tub room

Okay, after the bear in the garbage and the cougar on the deck, I was reconsidering the whole stalker thing...but, um, maybe I'll just quietly slip through one of the windows to the hot tub room to avoid bears and cougars and such....:p

Sounds much like where I grew up.

My mom bought it in 1970 for $3000. It started out as a 100 year old one room cabin. It sits on 20 acres and is backed up to a national forest. It snows there much of the winter and there is 4 miles of dirt road to get to it. My parents still live there!

BassGen, Marty - sometimes it's good when you get more than you expected. Yes? And just look at all the INFO you've gotten that you never thought possible from a bass forum. ;) I'd give you my real name on here, but it's complicated and unique enough to be google-able and you'd just call me Tat anyway, so I'll hold off for now.
Tat it is. "Marty" isn't my given name but rather a nickname in a way so I'm good with it. It's also very generic but still feels more personal. Everybody is free to do what ever they are comfortable with. Wouldn't have it any other way in CWB.

* Band is coming off hiatus and getting back to writing and rehearsing. It's looking like a total reformation and search for a new lead guitarist, but I think it's all good. I'm not going to be the steady bass player, but I've already been put on notice that I'll sit in sometimes at shows. My bass role is more writing and studio work. My show role vox and hand percussion - and booking. There are no shows without bookers - so wish me luck!
Jealous as H-E-double hockey sticks!

My band was supposed to be getting our stuff together but the drummer is working an insane amount of OT and can't come tonight (again)! I don't know when we can ever get it going again because the singer doesn't like rehearsing on the weekends. I'm very frustrated.

Maybe something will come together elsewhere. A friend from school days is moving back to this area. He's a very good guitarist and he has another guitar player he plays with. I can play with them but Metal is their primary influence and I'm not such a fan of that. Well hardly at all actually. Seems like a lot of pounding the root note. I used to be proud to be able to play the roots but now I like to make it more interesting. Sigh.

I had a really rough day, tomorrow is likely to be a repeat. I don't even have the energy right now to explain why.

I'll try to check in soon.

Jackie is in Chicago right now because of a family emergency on her side. I might end up in Chicago next week.

A couple of psychics offered to help with my nephew. Not something that I or my family are drawn to, but at this point I think that we'd try anything. Upon further review we've decided that their motivations seem to be self serving and about promoting themselves more than anything else.

Sorry you're having a tough time, here's hoping things get better.

I think you are doing the right thing in avoiding commercial psychics. They capitalize on grief.

Hope things get better for you soon!

I use a sony voice recorder, the PX312. Real easy to use in a car, press and talk, and has auto-off for the batts if you forget. I likes me some sony.

Here it is at the best price online, not the cheapest one but it has a usb outlet for connectivity AND it records in mp3 format so you can play it in windows media player.

Here's the size of it-

the whole house is a big "man cave" but the hot tub room is more-so... it is decorated with old/antique bar signs and lights. The light over the hot tub is an old miller high life pool table light (old style, with the pic of the girl sitting on the moon). The tub is an 8 person tub, so light is centered above it, and there are two strings hanging down, that can be reached from inside the tub, to dim either end. It also doubles as a trophy room for car/bike show stuff and drag racing trophies...
It is vented and humidity controlled, so moisture is not a problem

Trying to talk me into or out of it? :eyebrow:
lol...if the tub works, that's all I need. Couldn't wear the Schecter in though. :D

The High Life girl...my brother has a tattoo of her on his forearm...:rollno: I told him he should get 'White Trash' tattooed on the other one. He like that idea. :p (this is the same brother that named my daughter, btw...lol)

No, you would have to leave the schecter...That is OK, you would be allowed in there wearing nothing but a smile...honest, you would..:D

what would be the use of a hot tub that didn't work? Cold water might make the ladies perky and all, but perky and blue is not really a good combination.

I just like the look of the old signs, for some reason. it was just a cool motif, that is not often seen around here

Haha...alright...stalking attire is the Schecter, hot tub attire is a smile, and if I see a bear or anything else that may decide I might be a delicious dinner, then your attire will be me...probably on your head. :p
