I just got this mental image of you someday selling that Lakland and the buyer being TOTALLY perplexed as to why the frets all look in great condition. Well, all except for the first fret, which is also in great condition, except for right under the B string, at your low C. Funny how in that one spot on that one fret the metal is worn all the way down to the fingerboard ....

Yeah it's hard to keep debating what's the best bass for metal, with all of this going on, lol.

What's good player?!

Bourbon day is on the first, so not yet. I'm debating what my alcohol base should be. Jack is too bitter, SoCo is way too sweet, I need a betweener...

For smooth bourbon. I prefer Marker's Mark or Woodford Reserve. If you want a good bourbon that will also put some hair on your chest, there's none other than Booker's.

BTW, Booker's the choice of my band (at least if I'm paying for it).

I think Jim Beam is what you are looking for...

I think bacon would mess up Maker's Mark, and Crown Royal.

Ooooohh...a spork, even? We are gonna have SO much fun flirting. I can feel it already.

What would we need to do/say/suck up with to get a bigger picture than your avatar? I want to see the finish on that bass better (please?). I can't tell if it's spalted or burled, but I think I like it.

44 years later, I still recall Four Roses as causing possibly the absolute worst hangover of my life. I was about 16 and drank a pint of it. I had been imbibing Canadian Club prior to that with no ill effects per se.

I was at a party and stumbled home. Then I was unable to unlock the front door to the house so eventually I decided to take a little rest on the front stoop. I woke up the following morning when the neighbors across the street were pulling out to go to Mass. I make it upstairs to the bathroom and projectile into the head. I then crawl to my bed. A little while later Mom shows up and it is time to scrub the bathroom. I thought I was going to die.

Anyway, avoid the Four Roses.

LOL!!!

All you gotta do is ask...as for the finish on the bass, nah I can't afford an exotic finish yet - if I could, I'm a sucker for quilted maple!!!


Hmmm, work has blocked linking to photobucket....lets see if I can find the url though......in the meantime, this attachment will have to do...

Sell that baby? NEVER! But I don't have a B string on the Lakland (that's the Dingwall). Still....it makes for an interesting improvement on the WP-Factor when I sit on the cab while I play. It was high at BC when they made me sit on a stool, so at home, it's only getting better.

Hey auto! WB. And probably. Although my Christmas came early this year last with week with the two new basses. Still - I deserve to be spoiled so I've been going for it. LOL.

I think I'm with THand on this one. I'd go Beam with bacon. Actually, I'd highly recommend that. Jim Beam and Diet Coke go really really well with bacon and lettuce on whole wheat toast. It's like Opus and dark chocolate...mmmmmmm.

Interesting. It doesn't look quilted at all from the picture on my monitor. It does look like you might have a micro-burst incorporated with it, but I'd not have guessed quilted maple. My amber Lakland is quilted maple. Stunning to look at, amazing to play.





(...thinking I'm gonna try adjusting the knobs tonight when I sit on the cab, hmmmmmm)

BC = Band Camp? As in "this one time at band camp...."

I don't even want to speculate on WP when we're talkin about "Chick on bass cab, playing low..."

BC = Bass Central. They're the lovely gentlemen who let me fondle and touch too many basses last Saturday for the whole afternoon until I picked out the two new babies who came home with me.

WP-Factor = My most important criteria for the buy/don't buy decision. Also on that criteria list are sound, playability, and how the bass feels when I hold it. The price tag is just a suggestion anyway, so I don't worry about that. If I want it badly enough, I will find a way to have it. That's what second jobs and poker winnings are for.
