Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

Well crap!! I didn't know this thread existed..
I absolutely love my MBD2!
I won't lie, after seeing it on so many boards, I checked out the videos online..

I was baffled!! I didn't understand why so many folks would have this pedal, when everything I heard just sounded horrible, to me..

I figured there had to be more to it, so I messaged a few folks that I respect their opinions and knowledge of gear...

With that, one popped up in the classifieds... I scooped it fast and so glad I did...
I tried a couple of samples given to me by the folks I messaged and tweaked from there..
BOOM!!! Found what I'd been wanting in a drive going on forever...

The sound of my bass, just more dirty and gritty.
It's so full, thick and juicy!! And that's with the Depth all the way down, for me..
I don't see me letting go of it, ever

Hell yea \m/

Does any body here have experience with comparing the MBD to the OCD/Demon/DOD 250 circuit? I had an OCD back in the day, but now I'm curious as to how it would pair/stack with the MBD.

I had a Demon on my board with my MBD once. They really are quite different. My goal wasn't to stack it, but I'm sure I tried it. It wasn't memorable enough to try and perfect that combo, but they cover enough different territory to have both. I eventually traded my Demon and went with the Dunwich Olde Dirty Bass. (Major upgrade). The ODB can't cover the ground that the MBD does, but if you like the OCD circuit it's not a bad companion to have available.

And practically every distortion I've stacked with the MBD has produces very usable sounds

I've got a grey box 250 style pedal on the way.
When it arrives, I'll try stacking it with the MBD.
Luckily, I have two MBDs, so I can run one before and after, to see how well they stack, and in what order.

I’ve tried all of them. The 250, fulltone OCD (2 different versions), fuzzro demon. The MBD kills all of them easy and leaves them in the dust imo. There just isn’t any contest. It’s like comparing old flip phones to an iPhone/android.... def a different beast all together though. The MBD is compared to the rest of those. But it’s so so much better in every conceivable way.

As for stacking, I used to stack an OCD and a boss ODB3. Those were the only 2 dirt boxes I’ve ever stacked what I felt was successfully. So I’m not a big stacker.

So, my MBD-1 is malfunctioning. When it is engaged, it works perfectly, but when in bypass mode it's volume drops to about 40%. (If I completely remove it from the chain sound is fine, but when it's in the chain the drop occurs) It's alright for now, because I'm using it in a switched loop, but that might not always be the case. Yes it's an old one. Has this happened to anybody else? I'm quite handy with a soldering iron. is it something I could diagnose and fix on my own? I would love to avoid the cost of shipping it off for repairs. Any and all thoughts are welcome.
