Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

Sorry to just dive in. I just got an MBD-2 and when I turn my power on (1-spot- daisy chained or otherwise) it turns on the pedal as well. It works as normal otherwise sonnet too bothered. None of my other pedals do this though, they all stay in bypass mode when powered on. Does this happen to anyone else?

Mine does. I have a couple of pedals that do that, most do not though.

MBD2 uses a relay bypass and the microcontroller for the relay is programmed to turn the pedal on when power is applied.

Just got an MBD-2. Been using various BBBODs for an always-on OD for YEARS. The MBD is the first pedal in all those years that has knocked it off the board. At least temporarily. It’s quite surprising because they are so different. The BBBOD is all creamy mids and the MBD seems pretty scooped and assertive. But, I dig it. We’ll give it a shot.

that eq toggle helps with the mids. I run mine down. Personally love it that way. Feels like it gives it “tube comp” feel. Idk. It’s all in my head. But I know when you flip it up, you get a nice mid bump. Plus the 2 has the boost. Which opens up more. But between all the other controls it sure does cover a lot of ground.

I still love hell outta mine. It’s tough for me to play these days. To get inspired. I mainly play outta habit now. But every single time I plug in, my MBD (whether it be my 1 on the other board or the 2 on my one board) is always gonna get played and messed with. Especially the 2 for me. Since it’s newer. There’s a lot in there too. But anyway, rambling….

I appreciate the thoughts.
Maybe force yourself to not play for a bit…gather some inspiration in your head.

I agree there’s a lot of great, useable tones in there. Maybe too many for me, lol

Not a bad idea. Cause I still pick it up almost every day just to play ya know. Not playing with people for so long really messed with me. Playing in a band actively def helps keep me inspired and motivated.

For Bloop owners:

Is it possible to achieve unity gain when you engage the blender? How do you go about it? I understand that the loop is at unity and when you add clean blend, the signal is above unity. I guess it's not an issue with pedals with master level control...one simply decreases the level of the signal at the pedal in the loop. But what about reverb and chorus pedals? They usually have no master level control... Thank you?

Not really sure if this is an answer. But I’ve never had issues or problems getting unity gain with the bloop. It feels/sounds like the signal is just passing through coated with the bloop goodness. Of course you can add more bloop blend. And it will add low end. So maybe that’s what people are hearing? Not sure. But it def passes signal for me with/without a gain/volume bump/cut. It just adds girth so to speak.
