DA bass dirt circa 1979? I like this idea.
Especially if it's got some germanium, like the GMP.
I’d love to have a GMP and a DA built parallel drive, to go with my MBD-1 and spite box.

Anybody who’s rocked one and an MBD on the same board, how did you run them? Settings, stacked or not, order, what worked for you? I came up with something i’m liking a lot but always open to other ideas.

I have a new curnudgeon and a og mbd1… I run them separate, mbd1 has a good low articulate grind with low at 9, tone at noon gain at 3 and depth at 3.
Curmudgeon I run depth switch on ( so lows are also distorted) gain at 3 and tone at 9ish - it sounds like a rattish sound yet not… it’s definitely it’s own thing but does that good medium distortion fully saturated sound… not square wave fuzz or buzzy but just happy medium. My mbd1 in my rig does sound “lower / heavier” but that could also be cos of the blend and depth settings.

same. I was thinking of how I could say this when I initially saw this post. But you just nailed it. For me. The way I use it as well.
Interesting… I feel like I’ve found a way that they work together using a darker, deeper sound from the MBD and mixing in a grindier, more abrasive thing from the Curmudgeon with the MBD’s blend. Truth will come out at band practice this weekend, but I think it’ll work well with our sound. Will report back.
I used to have my MBD-2 as a low gain beefy always on sound then the Curmudgeon after, gain about 8 o clock/ volume about 2 o clock and depth switch down i think. Used to give this cool sound that distorted the low notes more than the high ones so when you played root to octave notes it sounds like 2 pedals in one.
Just chiming in to say (r.e. Curmudgeon & MBD-2) one of my favorite uses for the MBD is to run it low-gain after distortion pedals. It can turn an already gnarly sounding distortion into a goddamn buzz-saw. It's pretty glorious...
For sure - just mind the depth control. You can use more if the distortion hitting it is a little shy on low-end, but you need to find the balance...
I do this with a RAT sometimes. I’m excited to try an mbd for this purpose. Waiting on that mbd1979 though
A low gain MBD2 > Curmudgeon (Depth up / Gain around noon) works better than muffs with my 5-strings. Normally I’d run the MBD after, but in this case, I like the Curmudgeon’s power amp-ish grind after... Another part of that is running into Mesa SW 12’s
