Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I received the MBD just in time to take it out into the wild. Sound check didn’t afford me enough time to fully nerd out, but I got a killer light gain going and can’t wait to play around with it off the clock.

I want a v3 and it doesn’t even make sense. I just got a new MBD1 that I’m really happy with. Not sure how to reconcile this.

With the v1 I’ve always set it to a medium drive then I kick on a DG AO in front of it for boost. Works pretty good. I guess.

Is it good enough though?

Octabvre into the MBD is a thing of beauty; liking that combo myself right now!

Ok, I fired it up. And I must say I am impressed. The new "contoured clean blend" is game changer to my ears. It truly sounds parallel. The distorted note remains clear and does not sound muffled. And the bass part of the note sounds clear too. As good as the MBD1 is (and I love it), the blend is not in the same league as the MBD3. And the boost is very killer as well. In fact, this pedal is making me rethink my board and I've thought it was pretty settled for some time. What may be changing out is the Bluebeard (now I'm going to get 20 messages asking for it). But, the boosted MBD3 is the schizzz. I think when boosted, it sounds better than the Bluebeard for my purposes - which is running it through the 3-knob Xero and a expression pedal.

Anyway, Jeff knocked this one out of the park IMO.

Yeah. I’ll take the Bluebeard. Lol.

It’s always fun to get a pedal that makes you rethink the signal path and its possibilities even if it’s a PITA. It keeps you on your toes!

I passed on the first run because CME staff told me twice these would be available in their reverb store with shipping. Hit em up today and they said “we don’t know why anyone would’ve said that.” Bumming for sure…
Same here. I’ve been messaging them but no response.

Damnation Audio MBD Bass Distortion (2023 Chicago Boutique Effects Pedal Showcase Special Edition) (CME Exclusive) | Reverb

Is anyone able and willing to pick it up for me if I purchase one? I’ll pay a nice pickup fee. PM me.

I thought about this. I also considered that these might not sell out and become available through other channels later. They look great. I’m actually okay with what I’ve got (for once). Maybe it’s just the back pain talking since I can’t play until that clears up.

Yeah. I’ll buy the standard happily, just irritated that they didn’t have their staff setup to communicate the actual details for the pedal show. Seems like a very foreseeable question that clearly was being asked by multiple non-Chicago peeps. I’m sure we’re not the only ones wanting pedals shipped. Is what it is…
