Whoa, the new MBD is quite something ! Had formerly the MBD-2, parted with it so any comparison has to be taken with a pinch of salt, but i do prefer latest iteration, that's for sure. Sounds as powerful in the lows department to me but more flexible tonewise than the MBD-2. Any drive, tone, depth and blend setting changes, even slight ones, are audible, better than the MBD-2 i'd say. The contoured might help the pedal sounding 'clearer' and more precise idk, but this one is def a great improvement and one of the very best contenders for bass overdrive duty imo. Thumbs up Damnation Audio !

Oh, looks like it stacks beautifully with the Dunwich/Magic ODB as well, and the Boost feature is killer ! Kinda wish it could be set at unity gain, as it imparts some nice harmonic enrichment and kinda high-mid boost voicing - at least this is what i'm hearing -, but sounds great !

Anyone with the new MBD and a dirt fixer? Can you comment on how similar the dirt fixer plus another pedal is to the MBD in terms of how well the blend and maybe even EQ works? I’m seriously thinking the fixer might be in my future.

I’m in line for a v3 MBD, and I do have a Dirtfixer, which is outstanding. If no one else can comment, I will once my MBD shows up.

Now that the honeymoon's over I decided to do a quick shootout. They get close enough when A/B’ing, especially at low-mid gain, and more so against guitar and drums. But, to my ears the MBD-1 still sounds a bit more open and natural. The 2 more refined than the 1, and the MBD(3) a combination of both and then some. The main thing is the smoothness of the blend, added definition, and the "stoney" character. Having the variable boost is awesome for fine tuning the gain, kinda like adjusting the MBD-1's internal trim, and it goes hard into fuzz territory. I'm liking the new MBD just as much as the other versions... but for now, I still have my sound with the MBD2 for stacking and faster riff-y stuff. That may change later but there’s room on my board for both.

Quick question (not really) about the new "contoured clean blend" on the MBD 3.
Going off the lil visual on the Dirt Fixer (from which it originated)
There's a drop in the highs and mids.

I remember from the original nomenclature that the clean was low-passed, and had a corner frequency of around 1kH.

I also remember that the tilt EQ on the dirt side had a scoop to it.
Subtle, and not so subtle.

At 600hz, I think 6dB.
At 300hz, I think 12dB.

Now, I remember it being said that this mid frequency is now fixed on the new, at 600hz.

Is this subtle scoop that's applied to the dirty side, now also being applied to the low-passed clean side?

And with the clean also having this slight scoop, creating a more cohesive blend?

not the same frequencies but yes there us a scoop to the clean side to cut down on higher mid fequencies.
