$399 was unfortunately too much for me to spend, although I would have loved one of these RBD's.

OK, had a few days with the MBD2 and I think it may be my best pedal purchase ever. Love this thing. I'm using it this Sunday on my worship board as a first level saturation/drive and it just sounds great. The Tone Hammer is removed (for now).

I don't think you'll regret it. The first second I turned it on with everything around noon, it just sounded "right." The tone got a little dark under noon with the rig and bass I was playing, but every other setting was just great. It sounded fuller and had more bass information when switched between it and the ODs I had at the practice space. I need to dig in more, but it's a killer right out of the box and I'm glad I bit the bullet on it.
You are going to like it DP. I have about an hour with it so far. Mostly doing A/B/C eith the other iterations. Its clearly MBD lineage.

As I was conversatin' with another buddy outside of TB, I still remember getting my first MBD-1 second hand, it not working right, and you doing the repairs for free, while including DA picks and a pen.

I have everything but the enclosures. As soon as they are in I'll open orders back up. In the meantime check out my dealers or reverb if you're in a rush.
I still don't own anything from BSRI.
Was just checking out a demo of the Ashmaker.
I'm typically a low gain guy, but the high gain tones on that sounded like a barrel full of nails, rocks, and broken glass.......in a good way.
IOW, if chaos was a sound, the ashmaker is what it would sound like.

Ticks all the boxes for me…styling, sound…and utility (I REALLY appreciate the ability to run a battery).
For those on the fence, this has a similar feel to the other MBD iterations, but also is very much its own thing. In comparing it to the MBD-1 (my go-to) l, to my ears the Retro has more gain available, is more compressed and has greater harmonic complexity in the upper mids, as well as an addictive “raggedness” in the low to low-low mids. Its still does low gain well though.
The MBD-1 has more versatility (as you would expect) and finer control over lower gain tones, as well as being more open, but doesn’t quite have as much “aggression” as the Retro, for want of a better term. I didn’t feel the need for a clean blend with the Retro with the settings I would employ and the rig(s) I use.
The Retro is the “handlebar mo and mulllet” black leather jacket wearing cousin of the others in the lineup.
Has anyone tried using the DirtFixer with just a patch cable in the loop to blend a non-effected with the eq’d signal?
If you have a black Dirtfixer you don't need a patch cable to use the pedal as a preamp. The loop send and return jacks are normalled together already. The holographic first run Dirtfixers do need a cable.
