Late to the party but recently picked up the Dirt Fixer, kind of struggled with it a little at first getting it exactly where I wanted it.
Think I’ve found he perfect setup now, in the Dirt Fixer loop I’ve got the EAE Dagger into the Model feT. Then finishing it off with the 0xEAE Bass Driver. Sounds wicked!
I also have the CTC Venus in there but in all honesty, it’s mostly to fill the space
It’s a great pedal but the Dagger and FeT just nail what I’m going for together.

Yesterday we played as last-minute set as a duo because half the band was out of town, unfortunately including the drummer. But there's a good pic from the show. Look at the front of my pedal board.
Hey all, been gone for a minute. How many times have the different MBDs been compared? Probably dozens. Let's rehash it. Im an early adopter. Have/had every version. There's actually way less on the used market than I thought there would be. No longer own a "2" kinda want one again. Kinda want another big box too (PM me)
Been playing with the "MBD" again lately. These are the always on settings I settled on for the newest doom psyche band I joined. Without being overly critical Im not quite gelling with this version like I did its ancestors. What are ya'll thinking? Do they all sound the same? Are some features missed? Are the new features better? What do you think? Personally I miss the old blend and the mid switch. But that's not a problem because those versions are still out there. Never used the depth. I'm probably just the old guy who doesn't like change, at this point.

Do I need to make a 4th version to convince folks they sound the same???
Honestly there are slight changes along the way but all were improvements in dynamics and reliability. It could be down to parts tolerance perhaps. The clean channel is obviously very different.

I was on a similar journey with similar results. I have also had all the versions and while each one had something I liked, I moved along the new MBD (both of them - I tried one a second time because I sold the first before I felt I gave it a fair shake), the MBD2, and ended up keeping my old white MBD-1. I just assumed it was because I was the old guy that was not fond of change.
This could really be it. I have a firm belief that bigger pedals sound better and the big old MBD-1 sounds better to my eyes.
Having only briefly borrowed and MBD1, and owning and loving my MBD2s (and having had both the 1 and 2s at different times), I can definitively say I have no idea. But from previous comments in the thread, the blend seems to be a bigger deal. If memory serves, the blend on the 2s are more "hi-fi", and the newer blend is more "organic". I'm not actually quoting, but it was something along those lines. I'm totally happy with my MBD2s, and have no real interest in trying out other versions, unless one were to jump into my lap for a steal of a deal. And given the quality of and demand for these pedals, I find that highly unlikely.

Let's talk about the clean channel. Maybe that's it. If my memory serves, the old clean kinda cut off highs and added clean lows? Maybe that aforementioned, coupled with the drive side did/does make the old one sound different? No. Maybe not. Idk.
I still have a "1". Never AB'd with the new one. I can't put my finger on it. I think the new one is permanent mid switch on 600? I liked being able to switch mids. I'd trade depth for mid toggle. Keep boost and boost knob. Add back old blend. Jeff, you take custom orders? Lol
I'm not dogging on the MBD. Its my undisputed favorite pedal of all time. No question. Just trying to analyze stuff that I care about.

I grow and change and what I like changes. I make what I like. Perhaps that makes me bad at business. The tenth anniversary is coming up and you all made us what we are. Perhaps I should solicit feedback. But I also think what I make is the best version of said thing.
In other news, I dug out my Power Storter and decided to redo my board. Bass should be storted whenever possible!
I wasn't on this thread for awhile so this probably was discussed before. I guess I could have gone back and looked. I used to follow the thread daily. Was just wondering what the main differences are? The description on the website mentions the blend briefly. You say it sounds the same then you say its different too. I wasn't trying to piss anyone off. Ive been using these pedals almost 10 years. Spent over a $1K on DA pedals bought directly off the site. Cool.

I didn't take it that way. I was being tongue in cheek. Sorry for the confusion. What I meant to say is that besides the clean channel being different, there are slight changes in the circuit but the sound is intended to be the same. I made improvements along the way as I learned better ways of doing stuff.

Is it the big box or the OG clean channel? How should we test it?
I'm pretty happy with the 3 and that's still my flagship but I don't mind experimenting with you all.

I thought the OG and the Big box were one in the same. MBD1 holds the most specialest place in my heart. And iirc the "2" could get to sound identical to the "1" but with the knobs at different spots. Im happy to be back on the DA discussion. I took to long a hiatus.
If you’re taking requests, I’d like a mid cut bypass switch.
I’ve had a MBD2 and MBD. I prefer the MBD. On its own, it sounds great. However, I set most of my preamp pedals with a little mid scoop. Stacking them is too much mid cut for my taste. It prevents me from using the MBD as a pedal I can turn on for dirt and turn off for a clean tone.
Also, a gain and level control for the boost would be helpful for those who want to use the pedal for low and high gain tones without a big jump in volume.
