Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I love using my Loop Blender (sorry, will not call it a Bloop. Sounds too much like Blumpkin for my comfort) with all my non blended pedals.

My main confusion is the phase switch. I never really know what side to flip it to. I just listen to the bass response to guide me.

Most of my pedals like it in the up position, but my Earthbound Pale Mare seems to like it in the down position.

Just flip it to where it sounds best. I have a feeling that phase issues aren't very prevalent but Jeff put it there just in case. Mine stays (sounds best) in the up position for everything I've tried so far.

It's seriously as simple as which setting sounds better. There's no guidebook about which effects invert and which effects dont. Heck, so EQs invert at different frequencies below or above 180 degrees so it's hard to guarantee the switch makes a difference.

Also being out of phase isn't guaranteed to sound bad. Its a simple if-I-lose-too-much-bass-when-I-mix-these-signals-then-flip-this-switch switch.

I've also turned the pedal in the loop off and just run the Bloop goodness in my chain as well.

My DS1 in the Bloop on full gain can almost replace any of my fuzzes and when I turn the DS1 gain down to noon and bump up the tone control this setup holds its own against my Darkglass pedals as well. Probably not as good but close enough. I mean it. I'd like to hear from others who are putting some of their favorite drive pedals in the Bloop.

^ This is an older pic, but its how I utilize the bloop with anything on my main board. I basically just add it to everything. Also, using the bloop's "thickerizer" method when running into the pedalboard seems to help wake some pedals up (like the envelope filter), and acts like a heft boost for my bass

... Currently, this ^ combo has been doing the job for a special purpose board. Kind of a happenstance type thing.. I've been filling in for my brother's metal band and since their bassist used Darkglass I needed to stay along those lines. He used the AOU but I just have an X7, which they don't like as much, so I ended up tossing the AOm and then a VMT in the blender. Worked out a lot better! In the bloop I can dime the distortion and and/or clean blend and take things into different territory. All while maintaining the fundamental lows with the bloop. Adding in the octave for a sort of 8-string(ish) upper octave effect + sub lows sweetens things and resembles an original tone. Also fulfills the band's sonic requirements... Over the weekend I've starting setting things up to have different gain stages inside the bloop! Definitely keeping things fun and interesting.​

I tried the D-180 preamp through the Bloop tonight for about an hour and it was awesome! The D-180 overdrive is great sounding but added clean low end from the Bloop is game changing on this amp. It was like I could blend clean channel in with dirty channel (like what you can do on a SB300) for insane overdrive but with big focused low end.

And when I switched the Bloop off it was kind of a faux 2 channel effect because then I have just clean signal into effect return and it sounds good. There is a volume drop (unless I were to step over and physically roll the master up), but it will work great for clean intros into a freakout.

Very cool overall and it kind of rejuvenated the amp for me. I got that tingly new-piece-of-gear feeling from an amp I've owned for a long while. It opened up some more options. I'm gona try this with some other amps and I highly suggest you guys do too.

Good idea. The results sound mighty! Doesn't get muddy or anything either. Almost a dual band(ish) thing. Most useful suggestion I've seen in a while

This is a good question. I’ve been curious about this as well as other effects. What are the no-no’s as far as placing effects before or after the bloop? What effects wouldn’t do well in the loop?
