Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

New marketplace is exciting, and a great initial offering. The blocks by Cognate, Clack Digital, Nembrini, and Fine Classics are standouts to me, gotta prioritize which ones to buy first!

@IvanBassist I know it's been asked in the past, but now that the marketplace is out: is there a resource for developers who are interested in adding to the marketplace? I have done very little in the way of plugin development, but it's definitely something I wanted to explore more.
PM sent :)

Sooo.. Enough for 2 solos per song 😏 .
Apparently not. If you have a trial block in the chain, even if not engaged, sound will drop every 30 seconds for 5 seconds. So it's not really feasible, at least unless you do bank switching, which takes a few seconds to do.

Not that any of us are trying to game the system, just curious about all these new toys.

It would be nice that if a block is a trial block, that it is somehow obvious to see on the Anagram, whether a red border or adding - TRIAL to the name or some other. I could definitely see myself losing track of which blocks are full versions and which are trials.

The Fine Classics are great but the Cognate Bit Crusher is awesome.

I mean I bought like 13 plugins overall plus the free ones, it’s hard for me to pick a fav but the Pultrick and Punk Sans are 👌

Also the auto drummer is cool af and since it’s in chain you can loop it.

Anyway my advice as always is to buy everything

This looks like a place for developers.

seeking some assistance with my Anagram.
I bought it used from another TB member several months ago, and he bought it used as well. So, I am the third owner.
I have been able to use the Anagram and the DG Suite too, but I went to check out the Marketplace today and realized I don't really have access to to it because I can't register my device ... the original owner did not respond to the 2nd owner to remove his login so I could register it under my own credentials.

I tried to send a support request, but it seemed to fail because the unit is not registered.

Dang

Seems wrong that there is no way to "wipe" a used unit and register it to a new owner as can be done with any number of computer driven devices. This situation will really limit me on the Anagram. Too bad because I was starting to use it as my primary device. Good thing I did not get rid of my original pedal board.

Anyone have any suggestions ?

Thanks

ok, I did that. FWIW, both prior owners are Talkbass members. The person I bought it from, rstephens, did not register the unit. The original owner is gregbackstrom. I will try Greg again about de-registering the Anagram, but anything you guys can do will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Paul

Hey, I am reaching out to @gregbackstrom here on TB as the original owner of a used Anagram that I bought recently from another TB member.

Greg, your pm mailbox is full and I can't reach you that way. If you see this post, I would greatly appreciate if you could de-register the Anagram so I can register it myself.

Sorry for the long way around communications, but its the only way I could think of to contact you.

thanks

I've been around the block. I remember buying my first bass at Manny's, an NYC icon that is sorely missed. My days of going on at 10 p.m. have been traded for the 10 a.m. service at my church. At 64, I can't stay up late anymore, but I still love to play live.

So, what do I love about the Anagram? I've created presets that take me back to the days of tube monsters without the backache or risk of tube/parts failure. Each week, we play four songs at church. I've created presets to match or come close to the original rig for each song. What am I looking forward to? Paying Aguilar $100 for a NAM DB 751, paying Ampeg, and Fender for their best, not the snapshots we create.

I've not seen one Anagram for resale, though I'm not looking at the classified except to unload the gear, it has replaced. Speaking of that, I've sold enough gear to pay for the Anagram and a Fender Custom Shop P. Like me, I believe others think this is a game changer for the bass community.

I had an early order in with SW but cancelled it when it wasn't immediately filled, and luckily, I scored one with GC. I've also cancelled my order for the new GK lead sled, as I'm guessing I'll eventually be able to get that on the Anagram. I think you can tell I'm all in.
Personally, I would never support a company which sells (or allows the sale of) 100 bucks add-ons, as I would conclude that the (high) cost of the gear is not a finished price for a high end bass tool, bust just an initial one, leading to double spending by just adding 10 sounds/sims. I have reasons to believe that such move would put the Anagram out of market. Iphone’s apps, indeed, don’t work this way, being most of great apps free, some which require a small investment, and only very few asking for a premium and those by themselves would have never led Iphone into being a successful product. Either you sell the platform for cheap knowing that the customer is going to build it according to his needs at a premium, or you charge a premium for the platform and cover bassists needs mainly for free or a very very low price. Doing both wouldn’t work as a strategy. When a company makes great things is only half-there. It is extremely easy to loose all good achieved due to a wrong move.

I completely agree and frankly the most disgusting thing is how this platform will support jazz musicians making bleeping and blooping noises.

If I’d have known a ring mod and bit crusher was going to be available I would have stuck to my tuner pedal.

Separately the auto swell is letting me get all those slow attack synths, can finally cop all those tones from the IMA Mantle release video.

@IvanBassist Just wanted to give you and the team a standing ovation for the continued innovation around the Anagram. I know there is so much more to come, but it's just been a really rewarding experience to own an Anagram and play with it live as well as creatively alone or with my band. The marketplace is going to open a new world to so many of us in different ways. I hope the community at large will join me in asking Ivan to pass along a very large thank you and so much respect to the creatives, engineers, and musicians who brought this device to life and continue to iterate it, often. Cheers to the entire team!
That means a lot! Thanks for the support, and we are ALL truly humbled by the repercussions.
We know and anticipated some hesitation about DG not continuing to focus on bass... Bass is our DNA and know-how. For everything else, we'd rather open the door to those who actually do know, while we keep our path of updating the platform and the library.

This community is a huge part of why we keep pushing. THANKS AGAIN and AGAIN

Imagine you buy a car. It costs 38.000 $
After a year the company offers new shiny (maybe third company) rims for that car.
Rims THAT YOU DON´T NEED, TO USE THE CAR
Do you blame the car company, that you want other looking rims (costing 4.000$).

I love it.
This sounds completely unrelated. Cars are not processors, and rims are not apps. I am not talking about Darglass to not offer premium fancy bags for the Anagram at a premium, like it would be rims for a car.

With the Anagram today we offer our trust to Darkglass, we are thankful for them to have thought and been thinking to us as bassists like no other did before. This is why we spend a premium for a new, scalable unit. If it was not so, if I had to purchase it basing soly on what it offers today and knowing that in 2 years it would just be another old piece of electronics, I would have purchased it used. Instead, I want to reward Darkglass for what they did and help them to continue to invest on us.

Didn’t they always say from launch that Marketplace would be a thing?

As long as DG continue to expand the stock capabilities to fill missing functionality and don’t rely on paid offerings I don’t see any issue.

I think it’s a cool ideal, some of the plugins perhaps seem a little expensive imo, particularly those which were already available on MOD devices for a lower price.
