Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Are you getting good classic worship board tones like the tone hammer di and perhaps bass Microsynth?
I am. I’ve listened to several isolated bass tracks from Hillsong, Bethel, Maverick City and others, I’ve also asked AI what makes up their rigs. With this I am getting very close.

Now for the controversial comment, and this is only my opinion. But, these top bands are not looking for a bass tone to “cut through,” but to support the lyrics like the other instruments.

Hi everyone!

Reading every morning this thread, and quite humbled and thankful for the content you guys are pouring here!

I wanted to chime in and give a bit of internal info about what's happening and future updates for better clarification.

1) Supply Status
The demand and response for Anagram have exceeded our most optimistic expectations.
We manufacture Anagram in Helsinki, and while most components are readily available, the display has become a significant bottleneck with a 90–100 day lead time. We ordered enough screens for a year, and they were gone in two weeks.
It’s a good problem to have, but a problem anyways. We’re currently sourcing alternative suppliers who can match the exact specs (brightness, contrast, ratio, etc.). As of now, every unit we could build has shipped out. We’re waiting on new displays and working hard to reinforce the supply chain.

2) Upcoming updates: We have an agenda that prioritizes the following: USB audio interface, then Bluetooth, followed by critical blocks, critical utilities, and MIDI.
The truth is that Bluetooth is working; we are just tweaking the pairing menu and routing. USB audio had huge latency, it's now fixed, but we need to debug a minor thing that makes the latency fully stable. Today it can have a deviation of 0,02ms...which may not be a lot but for recording is not ideal (All other DG products work perfectly with a fixed latency)

3) And what is to us the most important one: SDK and marketplace. As DG has limited resources for R&D, we've always envisioned this as a platform that will shape and grow based on external development. For this, we need to finalize the encapsulation of an SDK that includes both essential code and graphical tools, enabling developers to create their own applications that can run on Anagram with cautious curation.
This will enable powerful and fast updates on the Anagram. There is a lot of great content out there that we feel would run on Anagram; it will render the platform very rich. For example, both the looper and the Global EQ are developed by external, open-source developers who are eager to offer more functionality. Think of the most capable looper with the addition of our MIDI footswitch, done by the same developer and available to download from the suite. That is something that is in the making, and it is not dependent on DG resources. There are all sorts of contributors that we are already working with, and we feel this is a vision we want to stay with: Engage with them to create a robust ecosystem. We’re working to keep up and deliver something lasting and community-driven.

I don't want to overpromise, but it seems like within 2-3 weeks, the first major update will be rolling out in the written order.

I hope this helped clarify some of the concerns.

THANK YOU FROM THE WHOLE TEAM

Cause I am not very knowledgeable? ;)

Was just wondering if it’s primarily used like a multi fx going into your real amp, or if it can completely replace the preamp section of your amp.

Thats a good reason :roflmao:

For me, I use it into a Harley Benton GPA-100.
Chain is:
Bus Comp > Harmonic Booster > (B3K) > (X) > Gentle/Noble > Orange AD200 NAM > Noise Gate > SL Mesa 215 IR > HPF and LPF.

It´s the best sound I´ve ever had, and - for me - it´s even better than the QC.

Thank you for this. Since the release I feel you have been upfront about the state of the product, your vision and roadmap, as well as your resources as a team.
Hope you can fix your supply chain soon - with the buzz Anagram creates worldwide you could ship them out by containers atm...

I bought on release day and have sold most other pedals and my HX Stomp XL since then which easily paid for Anagram.

If folks are fine with this one taking on the "club stuff" I can just post numbers here instead and ask that the other one be deleted or archived - I had initially hoped to not clutter this one with fluff, but don't have any real religion around it.
Are we consolidating?
Looks like Mfg is contributing to this thread as well, it would be nice to have only one thread to follow on this topic vs two.

Thank you for responding here!

What does 'critical blocks' and 'critical utilities' mean?

warning: the following is a bit of a crabby post

I have been considering multiFX units for a little while now (year or so). I have added some actual FX (as opposed to stuff like a tube DI) pedals to my signal chain over the past 5 or so years. Filter, Distortion/OD, Octaver, and using a combination of those to get a synthy kind of effect. It's has all worked out ok for me, but I'm kind of tired of doing the multi-pedal foot dance during gigs .... hence my interest in multi-FX boxes.

I originally focused on the Quad Cortex, but was immediately attracted to the Anagram as it seemed to be maybe a bit better box and also, being from Dark Glass, it was seemingly mostly bass focused.

As I posted earlier, I did the pre-order thing at Sweetwater after reading that they would have them to be shipped in June (sometime). This morning, my ever helpful SW rep let me know that it would be July (sometime) before mine would ship. Kinda frustrating to "buy" something today and be told you might get it in 2 months. We had a little polite back and forth about the fact that it was a bit deceptive of SW to show these as shipping in June, but the actual availability for buyers today was going to be behind earlier pre-orders ... so sometime in July (no idea when). My SW rep agreed with me, but of course, he has no impact on that situation.

I'm kind of aggravated about this (could you tell ?). Did DarkGlass just not expect much market demand ? and what might be holding these things up for such open ended time frames ? This has also got me wondering how much better the Anagram might be than the much more mature Quad Cortex. From reading here on TB, I guess the bass focused content on the QC is much smaller than the Anagram, but I'm guessing there is pretty solid Filter, Octave, Distortion/OD and Synth features already live in the QC universe. And at the same time, the Anagram seems like it has not really fully matured just yet (e.g. audio interface capabilities, some MIDI functions and others are "coming" features), whereas the QC is already pretty well developed as a product ... and more importantly to me, is avail new and used in some profusion.

I'm also wondering about how long before there is a used Anagram market after all the initial unit buyers and some "tire kickers" burn out on it and dump them on the used market.

Finally, I am asking myself, why am I reacting to so much hoopla about a device that is not really revolutionary (as far as I can tell). I generally don't jump in like this, and all of this is reminding me of why that is so.

I've done fine with out an Anagram/multi-FX box so far and all this delay is definitely making me reconsider such a purchase.

Ok, I'm better now, thanks for listening. ;)
So to answer your question on did they not expect so much demand.

The answer is no, in one of the interviews Marco says they had a financial year goal and they doubled it in the first week with sales and subsequent reorders.

So demand in one week was more than double what they expected to do across the next 6-12 months.

So yeah…. Slightly higher than they expected 😅

I see a more official response beat me to it 😅

I’m still waiting for that Bluetooth functionality before I jump on the band wagon but I’m excited for the future of this product, very excited.

I’m simply thrilled for their success! I will certainly be picking one up in the future. The Anagram is next level, even over my QC (once it reaches at least feature parity with MIDI and such). Eagerly awaiting to see how the update cadence fleshes out. If nothing else, will serve as a backup and home practice device. Once my confidence builds, maybe even primary device.

Agree. Will definitely be pretty excited about it once more MIDI functionality is fleshed out.
