Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Out of curiosity; If you plug that bass into Anagram and play a few fingerstyle notes on the open E string, what does the input gain meter look like? Does it cross the halfway point of the meter under normal playing intensity with the volume on full?
I’m currently traveling, but I can take pictures when I’m back home next week :)

To those building around the Anagram with external pedals, what are you guys using?

I've sold most of my pedals except my Empress and Doom2. I don't feel the comp kicking in like what I'm used to on my Empress with the internal comp of the Anagram. It works but it's not the best. For the Doom2, I manage to find a similar voiced NAM capture which is the Tech21 Red Ripper from Tone3000. I can still use the Anagram on it's own especially on quick gigs.

Planning my chain to be: <Anagram<Doom2(FX Loop)<Empress Comp<Bass

What are you guys using to power the Anagram with external pedals?

I'm on the fence of selling my Octabvre because the Octavers(Sub Lemon) in the Anagram sound fantastic! Do share you Anagram with external pedals!

I have some more power hungry pedals on my board and I am currently powering it with a PSU from Sweet Foot pedals. It is designed specifically for the HX stomp and a single 1.5A jack that I am currently using. It's not quite the 2A recommended, but it has been working fine for me so far.

How can I do a factory reset? I’d like to start over.
Replying to my own question:
Per Darkglass support, there is no reset function at this time. It will be coming in the future. Meanwhile, overwriting user presets with a blank preset is the way to go. It’s possible to select/overwright multiple presets at a time. Props for Great customer service.

Thanks for confirming. I was also looking for a way to reset... Shows how much room there is to add and improve the platform.

I’m using 4 i think, but only 3 outlets of the DC7

How does that look? Screenshot please. I may try that too.
The theory is more important than the screenshots.

Disclaimer: understand this for yourself before trusting your thousand dollar pedal to this information.
  1. Cioks outlets have positive in the center of those RCA plugs, negative around the outside.
  2. Most pedals (including ours) want center negative, positive around the outside.
The problem we're trying to solve is that one Cioks port maxes out at around 660mA when set to 9V (or 500mA at 12V as I’ve got mine set up). So we want a few of them wired in parallel. Wiring them in parallel means we can draw power from three ports simultaneously, maximizing current without multiplying voltage. (When you put two 1.5V AA batteries in your remote, they're going in series rather than in parallel, supplying 3V to the circuit.)

So if you cut apart 3 Cioks cables and tie all the negative leads to the negative lead on the side that goes to the center pin on the pedal, then take all the positive leads and tie them to the other line, you'll have three power sources wired in parallel. To do it properly you'll need to do some soldering. I used heat shrink tubing to tidy everything up after I did all the soldering, and you can just barely see that in the photo among all the extra wire and zip ties.

If you do this yourself, use a multimeter to verify that the output is +9V when you measure with black in the center, red on the outside. If you're not sure of your work, have a buddy look at it before you plug your awesome new pedal into it. Hope this helps!

In case anyone is wondering, I’m using these: Parallel Adapter Flex - Increase Current for CIOKS Power Supplies

You can also buy a Cioks Crux to make your life easier (it has to be paired with the DC7): CIOKS CRUX - High-Current Power Supply with Isolated Outputs

I'm receiving an Anagram tomorrow! As many here I'm hoping it replaces the whole pedalboard.

This is my current-ish board (comp is a Becos now). I also need a flanger. It splits to two amps. With the bag and cables it weights more than the bass carry. Not ideal for commuting..

I have one of the TrueTone current meters - where you plug it into series between the power supply and the pedal and it will tell you how much "actual" current the pedal is drawing. My plan is to use a Cioks SOL and the "three slot" approach as many have mentioned.

Using the power supply that came with my Anagram - plugging that into the TrueTone current meter and from there into the Anagram, I only saw current draws of less than 1A from the Anagram. It fluctuated a good bit from ~700 to 875 mA. To be clear, I didn't plug a bass in and play through it to see the current draw change (which I will in the next day or so) - but it's clearly drawing way less than 2A. I can't imagine that the current draw would increase too significantly - but will report back what I find.

That little test made me very confident that my Cioks SOL could handle the Anagram, and Strobostomp HD, and my Cali76 V2.

Yeah even if you use a current tripler you still have plenty of power for all three! No doubt.

Well, I have been playing with it for a couple of hours. This thing is good.

On the plus side:
- It sounds great. A basic line with the Microtubes, compressor and Noble makes a great starting point.
- Tried a couple of cab sims, they also sound great.
- Yes, it could replace an entire pedalboard, specially if you already use some Darkglass.
- It's quite easy to use, much more than the HX.
- This machine has a lot of potential, future updates can make it a very solid device for bassists.

Things I liked less.
- Depending on where you play, I'd consider some kind of protection for the screen.
- There are just a few effects available. I know that there's also the NAM thing, but that involves some extra setup and knowledge.
I appreciate that it's not clustered with 200 effects like the HX, it makes it easier to navigate. But it would be nice to have some additional variety.
- There's no phaser

Will it replace my pedalboard. Err, I don't think so. I know I can NAM the DCX, but I'd not be able to tweak it. The Mood would be difficult to replace as well, there's no reverse delay and the fun of the Mood is to tweak it in real time. Also, it cannot replace the organic mess the Light Pedal brings to the table, but this is a very unique pedal, I don't think there's anything similar out there.

Also keeping my empress. I’m powering the board with a ciocks DC7 and crux for the anagram. I just installed those this week, the board previously had a PP2+ but that required a separate cord for the anagram power supply and the bulk of the adapter wasn’t fitting well under the board.

If I didn’t already have this PT board I might have gone with a nano and fewer things, but I figured I’d work with the space I have. The trem makes up for a function the anagram doesn’t have. The tuner is kind of just bridging space, I could use the anagram tuner and put something else there but I didn’t know what. I thought about board mounting my nobelium but I use the noble preamp in the anagram anyways. I left some space between pedals for ease of using the DI and other jacks from the anagram.

Played my first gig with it last night. Amazing overall experience. The sound was great, the band loved it. I managed to make edits to my patches on the fly to nail down the mix. I need to change tuning regularly, going from Standard to 1.5 steps down. I used to use a DigiTech Drop before with my HX Stomp. The Anagram's Pitch Shifter is doing such a great job that I simply pre-programed presets for each tuning. I also got a good feel for navigating the presets while playing.

Still though, many bugs to be ironed out, especially when tinkering a lot. But I'm sure we'll get there. It's a wonderful pedal that will just get better over time.

Noticed some strange behaviour in output level dropping a bit randomly, at first i thought it was my bass battery - but unplugging the Anagram and plugging it back in the volume came back. using the standard adapter.
Could also be my power outlet in my house, though i tried two different outlets.

I only updated to the first firmware update, i need to get the latest also

Looks great! I manage to find a psu an just waiting for delivery. I got the Walrus Canvas HP. Doom and my Comp will be my external and the Anagram handling the bulk of my core tone and other effects.
