Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

Sorry man...but THAT is the amp text/labeling and contrast scheme they're going with? I can hardly see it on the close up of the amp for the add copy...I sure as hell wouldn't be able to see it on a stage with stage lighting or on a bright outdoor festival stage.

We can hope the final product has more contrast and easier to see. Maybe it is just the picture.

@bjelkeman

I haven't read the whole thread. Have you had the chance to actually play the prototype amp?
If so, what's the clean sound like? Any other brands / tones it could be compared to?
I'm looking for a lightweight replacement for my Aggie DB750 (have a TH 500, but it's definitely not the same)
I've heard a few yt vids of the darkglass amp, but those are usually not really representative in my opinion.

Yessir. That would be very hard if not impossible to see on stage.
Bigger darker text would be better.

I asked a fellow who did play the prototype about the clean. I take it with a grain of salt as each of our descriptors is so subjective when describing to others as our baseline is not going to be the same as someone else's. He said it was clean but also had a sustain and even a bit of growl when he was hitting notes aggressively. The sustain part is something I have noted with other amps utilizing the newer modules as it appears to me the notes will hold without sagging. In your case asking about similarities, I suspect these newer module amps will be able to come close to the tone you are looking for; it should be very interesting to see the offered tonal variety.

I have tested the prototype amp. It was a while ago now, but the way I remember it was that the clean sound was like hearing your bass amplified. Now, most bass amps IMHO does colour the sound of your bass quite significantly. Some modern amps don't. I did spend most of the time with either the BXK or Vintage effect on, and Doug was dialling through the range of sounds.

I was convinced then. And I stick to that. The clean sound felt powerful and... clean. Plus the useful and powerful EQ, and the result felt impressive. Adding the built in Darkglass signature effects just makes this a no brainier for me.

I hope to have a nice parallel testing session with my Mesa Carbine M9, Darkglass 700, GK MB Fusion and a borrowed Mesa Subway D-800 as soon as the Darkglass 700 is out. Watch this space.

I like all those amps. The MBF is the one I like the most out of those.
