This is a good point. I am beginning to see folks who get the larger power amp rating / speaker thermal rating ratio and that is cool; I have run larger power amp/speaker for years. But we do have to remember that as we play those speakers heat up so a person may be better off, depending on speakers used, to run this amp in the 2 ohm mode. We don't want the majic smoke to escape out of the speakers. And really, unless ones speakers/cab are totally inefficient, 500 W in should be plenty loud enough for bar band work, especially with PA support.

I also get the pop and it's pretty annoying live because it will go through the PA if the channel & amp aren't muted. It is definitely a louder pop than any other amp I've ever played. In the grand scheme of things it isn't a big deal but just one more thing to keep track of when playing live.

In other news the Aguilar TH500 bag is a perfect fit.

Both basses have the passive electronics and use the same amp settings, I will never buy another amp unless this thing dies or gets stolen!! I have zero interest or GAS in any other amp, and soon it'll be the same with my basses...


The vintage channel is it for me, but I'm gonna experiment with the B3K channel still.... I will place the 900 switch next to a Saturnworks switcher pedal (still waiting on) so I can run my FX clean which I prefer IME with envelope, synth and chorus and the DG pedals!! I'm a happy camper :)

There might be a very slight pop when turning on and off.

The amplifier has a soft start circuit that disables the poweramp the first 5 seconds after power up which reduces the initial pop significantly (pops are usually caused by capacitors suddenly charging and discharging during power up and power down respectively).

In my experience there can be a subtle pop when turning it the amplifier on and and even quieter one when shutting it off.

As slight as they are we are looking into making them zero.
