David Nordschow Amplification

Apparently you haven't heard Bill Clements play. He also has one arm but LISTENING to him play you'd never know it ;)

Being disabled has absolutely nothing to do with one's ability, when it comes to music. :D

God Bless, Ray
I didn't say it did. My point was simply that if he's called in a cavalry of hard hitting bass players to help design and test the gear, he'd be excused for doing so as he's not a bass player and isn't likely to become one any time soon. That itself is no disability - Jim Bergantino doesn't play bass either and his gear is apparently pretty good - but it's an obstacle to be overcome. How David chooses to do so is up to him, it's his business after all! And I have enough faith in him as both an amp/speaker designer, and as a businessman to trust his judgement.

And as for having "no products", that implies he's got nothing whatsoever up his sleeve. If I were him, I'd be keeping my cards close to my chest on what gear and ideas will be forthcoming. We as bass player would dearly love to know his plans, but his competitors would like to know even more......

funny thing is, i took the time to read all of the blurbs on the DNA site and I've gotta say..... I'm left with no questions. :eyebrow:

David lays it all out fairly plain and simple as to what's going on and what he hopes to have going on in the future...

read it from the source then come back to this thread, do not take the posts in this thread as your only reference as to what's going on with DNA :smug:

as to "how does a company that is showing no product have endorsees already?" well, oh ya, he explains that over at the site ;)

Well, they shouldn't have announced a launch date unless they new they could deliver (take Genz Benz for example). Sounds like they just wanted to get their name out there name "out there" for NAMM.
you think? ;)

you know, someone wise once told me that once it's out, it's out forever. i think that's words to live by.

I personally didn't take it that they were announcing a launch date for product. I thought it was more a launch date for the new company, which is what it ends up being. I never saw where they said "We're debuting our product line on Jan 13!"

Cheers,
Liam

Let's be clear. According to the jaundiced, skeptical, and narrow definition of "endorse" I don't endorse anything. But using the real definition EVERYONE who's ever said "I like this and think you should check it out" is an endorser. That's because the word "endorse" means more than just "I shill this stuff for pay" that too many music types think it means.

Or even worse, the moronic illiterates who think "endorse" means the company endorses the player...

John

i've heard pretty non-moronic, non-idiots in the industry use the endorsement term either way, and properly too.

music corporations sponsor beginning players, young bands, or even folks showing promise, and this is called an endorsement too.

I'm all ears for David's products. It's pretty obvious he knows well what he's doing.;)

My point with mentioning Bill was, "even with one arm you still CAN be a bad a$$ bass player".

As has been said, I think DNA will be chasing Genz, but their business model isn't impossible to attain.

Holy crap, this thread IS a trip.

I'm interested to see what DNA comes up with. As far as I'm concerned DN has golden ears and a good sense of what bass players want and need. I'm sure he's aware of the advances of the last few years and if he brings his tonal sensibilities to state of the art designs i'm sure he'll succeed.

To those who have already written off the new company for supposed heinous infractions against punctuality and broken promises, I am frankly not surprised. Apparently old scars are itching to be picked at again.

It's a pity Eden had such a bad trajectory as a business, they had some marvelous products and I'm still in love with my WT-550. it would be a pity of the same mistakes were repeated.

If I could be so bold as to make suggestions to David Nordschow, I would ask him to ensure the same care went into presenting his products and writing the manuals as goes into designing and building them. I know it's time consuming and expensive at first, but in the long run it must bear fruit in increased sales and customer service cost savings.
