David Nordschow Amplification

Wow. Regardless of who works there, I'm going to base my purchasing decisions on the quality and sound of the product. The company reputation remains to be built. The question is whether David Nordschow's stellar reputation can carry the rest of the company. I'm going into "wait-and-see" mode.

+1...BUT......That's no fun!!!
That's a, "to down to earth and make's to much sense", approach! ;)

Glad to see David re-emerge. Lotsa things went weird when USM bought Eden.

Lane appeared to do everything but turn himself inside out to make up for some CS failings after USM, and I believe he was as frustrated with the problems as those who tried to get service. The CS has picked up with Tim at the helm in the recent past.

Didn't know this Mike Winnen person, so I'll have to do some reading, but I'm anticipating some good stuff to come from David's mind and Lane's promotional and marketing skills. Wonder if Lanes's goint to continue to hang with Roy V. over at Teach Me Bass as well?

Things that make you go hmmmm....

I wasn't really aware of the charity issue, but I remember the Schroeder MDF issue. It didn't strike me as the most diplomatic or intelligent way of dealing with the manufacturers reputation for cabs that were on trial.

But everyone grows and changes, so maybe...but a strange choice. However, sainthood is not a requirement for a musician, MI manufacturer, or their representatives.

I was treated like a little kid by Lane. He's way too full of himself. I love my Eden stuff, but dealing with him, makes it a problem for me.
Other than that rant, I would like to at least hear the new stuff, with my own ears too. Anybody know where the company will be based from?? Be nice if it was back in Minnesota again. Those folks could use the jobs again.

Maybe he got in over his head........maybe he scammed this board in the name of charity. Based on his actions and inactions, I tend to believe the latter.

And yes, scamming people in the name of charity IS a reason someone should not be allowed to work, especially is a CS role.
well i don't know the whole story admittedly, but it doesn't seem like there was any prosecution or conviction. that's not in any way condoning what happened, though. i'm definitely not in support of people collecting money for charity and not distributing the money. but people who have done far worse are allowed to work.

Sure, but look at it this way: If a person was fired from their job for being caught stealing from the till, would it make sense to give that person a job managing the cash drawers for the whole store? Mike was banned from here for overtly shafting the online bass community--should he get an executive-level job managing relations with the bass community?

A short version of the facts, with no exaggeration:

BMW started a "charity", with a couple of specific intended recipients of the charity monies. He got really excited about it, and used his "enthusiastic" manner to convince several TB'ers to contribute hundreds of dollars, and got a TB lawyer to donate his time setting up a corporation for this charity. Then he stopped coming around, refused to answer questions about where the money was, and his last words were to the effect of "my family is more important than this charity".

marion berry got re-elected mayor of washington dc after smoking crack with prostitutes. what should happen is often not what happens.

i guess i did get the full story then.

i'll tell you, when i see the words "charity," "2 recipients," and "basses that cost over $1000," i'm heading for the hills. easy to say that in hindsight, but come on...i'm all for helping out a brother in time of need, but can't he gig on a Squier for a little while? ;) my v4b/810 got burned up in a bar fire 20 years ago. our singer let me use her peavey tnt combo until i got a new amp. that's a musician's relief fund, not sadowskys and mtd's.

He wasn't prosecuted or convicted because no one involved chose to press charges. Doesn't make it right. The fact is that the guy stole a considerable sum of money from members of this forum. No, he didn't murder anyone, or rape anyone, or sell drugs to school drugs to school children. Regardless there are some here that prefer not to deal with con artist, whether they've been convicted or not.

You might think he's allowed to work, but I'm allowed to choose where to spend my money. I'm also allowed to warn those smart enough to stay away from con artists. As always, there will be those in the musical community that will, despite knowing this guy's past, choose to do business with this company. That's their choice, but at least they're informed now.

I assume David is banking on most being in your situation.

I will remove myself from the discussion at this point

I, personally, will not. I have plenty to say!!

I just lost interest.

I have lost interest in the products, gained interest in the discussion.

As usual, my bassbrudder Cyrus, with whom I seemingly share some bizzare simpatico insofar as opinions on talkbass, has expressed my sentiments, but for the first time incompletely.... and I really dont care if I get shushed by mods on this issue.

Mike Winnen is shyster, con-artist, thief, liar, egomaniac, perpetual mincer of words, and guilty of every form and variety of paid-advertisement-posing-as-unbiased-opinion BS possible in a forum such as Talkbass, and used whatever means possible to ingratiate himself to manufacturers in order to fatten his stack of free gear.... going so far as to blackmail one with false negative press should they NOT provide him with free gear.

Not only did he VERIFIABLY steal no small amount of money from goodhearted and charitable Talkbass members, but also accepted money, free gear, press and other compensation for coming on this board and presenting himself as an average joe who had tried all the rest and found the best in **insert manufacturer name here**.... aggressively posting about said product, flaming detractors of said product, voraciously PM'ing new people or potential buyers making outlandish claims and promises, and violently attacking (via PM of course) anyone who called him out on his BS..... all in an effort to glorify himself and increase his gear horde without coming out-of-pocket.

I once PM'd him asking to "take it easy" after flaming a young student of mine on this board for questioning the torrent of lavish praise he heaped on a product which he had completely denounced just a few months prior.... and he responded with a foul-mouthed tirade of personal insults, threats and the general statement that a little "p*ssant loser" such as myself had no business commenting on the behavior of a bassist of his "stature".

I can also say that I am aware, second hand of course, of one manufacturer whom he contacted offering to review, for the benefit of the public, a new speaker cabinet. He convinced the manufacturer to send him the cabinet without payment for review purposes only and to be returned thereafter. When the cabinet arrived, he called the manufacturer and claimed to have found a whole host of very serious issues with it, but that these would be overlooked should he be allowed to keep the cabinet free of charge. The manufacturer refused and threatened criminal charges and a lawsuit. The cabinet was returned and no review was posted.

He did something similar with another manufacturer and the results were strewn all over talkbass, during which he was shown to have lied about almost everything.... making sure all the while to personally attack everyone who challenged him..

This is certainly a very poor choice by Mr. Nordschow [sp?].... and I feel quite certain he will be made to suffer for it eventually...

Please..... let the buyer beware of anything involving Mike Winnen.

PS - If anyone was wondering, Mike Winnen is one of the main reasons everyone on this board who has any brand affiliation whatsoever must disclose so..... the one good thing that came out of all his mess.

I would say that's my $0.02 but that's more like my whole wallet full of opinion.

+1 These are pretty much my thoughts. I'm not in the market (but are any of us ever really out of it?), but his inclusion on the list of employees virtually guarantees I won't be interested. That whole charity mess was pathetic. As for the other issues (Schroeder, et al), pablomigraine covered them in ways I couldn't.
