David Nordschow Amplification

well, after seeing more facts, i'm inclined to believe everyone about this character. still, those who are mad at him for ripping them off should aim a little bit of that anger toward themselves for allowing themselves to be scammed. i realize blaming the victims is not a popular stance, but hey, if someone sent $50,000 to nigeria because an email said they'll get $5 million if they do, you'd blame the victim as well.

otoh, any guy who can get people to pop to buy two bassists very expensive basses in the name of charity is someone you actually want working sales ;)

I'm all for hearing what David's come up with.

I'm not trying to be naive or defend anyone but I do believe that "those who are blameless can go ahead and cast the first stone" might apply in this situation.

If we want to get this picky about our "stuff" and the people who make or are affiliated with the "stuff" we own and use then we had better start with bigger fish in the frying pan than the guys who David Nordschow has hired on....

seriously.

to bad mouth a company/product that hasn't even been heard let alone seen based on a couple of employees on the payroll :eyebrow:
seems fairly juvenile.
I do think that what BMW had done with his 'charity' shenanigans shouldn't be excused or overlooked as to the potential of his current state of character but really.

can we focus on the gear a bit?

You may choose to spend your money with someone who has defrauded the members of this board, but I will not. I don't care how it sounds.

Let me address one thing, however:

What is truly juvenile is to ignore the integrity and morals of a principal of a company simply because they might make some "cool" gear.

Yep. Blaming the victims is a pretty prickish thing to do. While I may have rolled my eyes at the whole charity bit, I have certainly never called out the victims as co-conspirators in their own deception.

Somebody had to do it, huh?

First, there's a difference between "happens to be on the payroll" and "is the Director of Marketing & Relationships." Second, nobody badmouthed the company, they just said they would not be doing business with them.

Having observed Mikes antics on this board over the years, I can't say I blame them. I don't know that he defrauded money from people, but I do know he handled the whole situation is basically the most piss poor manner possible. From the way I've seen him handle himself, I wouldn't give him the time of day, let alone any business.

well maybe it will prevent them from falling for something similar somewhere else, so it's not like it's a totally bad thing to point that out. and at the end of the day, the karma that the victims will receive for trying to do the right thing and getting scammed is way better than the karma mike w is receiving. so you've all got that going for you.

Okay okay kids lets not start chewing each others necks over this issue. Some people naturally want to give people the benefit of the doubt, some people can't abide badmouthing under any circumstances, some people don't care who or what is "behind the music" so long as they dig the tune, still others just enjoy stirring the pot.... and many have strong feelings about the man and the issues and are loath to keep quiet about it.

For my part, I will never spend a dime with DNA, and niether will anyone else, here or elsewhere, whose opinion I can possibly influence.... based solely on the fact that Mike Winnen is irrefutably a thief and a liar, is currently holding a position where being both or either stands to do the most damage to the unwary or uninformed and after all....this is a forum for the expression of opinion...

For those of you keen on discussing DNA products, you should just leave this thread alone and bear in mind that a DNA thread will have a hard time reaching page two without this issue coming up. For friends and fans of David and his work I would use whatever means available to you to contact and educate him on his peril, not waste your time here trying to defend his new company to people whose wounds are still fresh. Everyone should remember.... this would be a mug different thread if the winnen thing weren't brought to the fore..... david is doing himself, his business and the bass community a disservice by employing this Guy and we're doing david and ourselves a disservice by snapping at each other while david remains potentially and probably clueless on the issue.

An open letter to David Nordscow:

Dear David,

(Fill in the blank)

I wonder if it is possible for someone to have a meaningful conversation with DNA at NAMM and report back as to their management team, business plan, and products accurately and without holding predjudices
Tragicaly any publication, including Tom's will not be able to touch the real story with a barge pole due to the legal implications as well as the potential to allienate friends, other companies, suppliers, and distributors of DNA

Actually, the truth is always a great defense. If I get a chance to talk to David about this upcoming company, its products, and the people involved, I will do my best to report the real skinny.

Hmmmmm,
After reading this, and the numerous previous ones on this individual, it begs the question as to how David and Lane made the decision to use this guy in their management team.
Makes you wonder how this guy ingratiated himself into being offered this position?
Does anyone here actually know David? - Would love to get his take on this.

Okay. folks - after some discussion most of the team here at TB have agreed that this thread is a legit discussion and so should remain open. So, we'll give it a go.

All we ask is that people bear in mind the following; clearly, some of us have strong views on both sides about this new venture, the products that may be produced and the people involved with the project. That's all well and good, but if you happen to see anything here that you wish to disagree strongly with, do so without expressing any disrespect for the person you are responding to. We can all state opinions without personal attacks on each other, so let's not get into that territory. If there are any Rule #1 violations here at all, then we'll not be well pleased as it just creates bad feelings and extra work for us when we're trying to chill out here on TB same as you guys. So, play nicely.

Carry on...

EDIT- That big Viking fella beat me to it. :bawl:

Thanks for re-opening. I fully understand the complications, but as long as we stick to statements of demonstrable fact (or opinions expressed clearly as "in my opinion" or "my perception is"), we should be able to say "what needs to be said" without legal problems or rule-breaking.
