Dean Club!!!

Just took out the magnifying glass and it's definitely a D.

Anyone have suggestions for replacement tuners and bridge (for this 5 string, Edge)? The tuners are pretty rough and a couple of screws on the bridge are stripped. Planning to stay with black and get something fairly nice (since the bass was priced so reasonably). It'll be my project (probably consider pups at some point, too).

Thanks!

The Omega string spacing is 3" at the bridge. The spacing on my Edge bridge is 2.5" (I'm holding the tape offset by an inch in this photo).

As before, thanks @B-Mac, you're a one-man resource!
Yeah, string spacing on Dean’s is always tighter than others. I should have checked for that.

What exactly is the issue with the existing bridge?

The heads (not threads) on two of the tiny Allan screws that go into the G string's saddle are messed up. I expect I can get them out with a little enginuity (although they are too small for an easyout). Or maybe I can replace just the little saddle.

I hope that my saying thank you doesn't lose its effect due to my redundancy, but thank you @B-Mac!

I think I can find an exact match. I just have to remember where I saw them.
I thought you needed an entire different bridge because the holes in the body were not holding the screws. You just need saddle replacements.

This should be exact.

Seller writes
"Dean Bass Guitar with pick ups"
For $300 I hope it has pick-ups!

He probably should give it a light cleaning...

When I was shopping around with the possibility of picking up a PowerMac (early 90s) I was completely blown away that it didn't come with a keyboard. They said that they already expected you to already have a Mac keyboard. Who should be looking at the guy with the three heads, me or keyboardless computer seller?

Imagine that a new guitar or bass didn't come with strings because they already expected you to own strings.

I have a Dean Juggernaut and am thinking of doing some upgrades.

I am new to bass so any advice welcomed.

Thinking wiring, pots (CTS) shield the cavity & pickguard if they aren't already. Stays in tune well so not worried about the tuners. Looks like a high mass bridge, is there any benefit to upgrade.

The pickups sounds fine to me besides the hum. Should I consider a noiseless pickup?

I have the black, rosewood with tort pickguard. Thinking about changing the body to white. Anybody ever try the paint job yourself or should I get it sent out?

Any other recommendations?

All in all an awesome bass, just looking to tweak a few things

You can order Dean USA pups in both Vintage and Hot versions.
My Juggernaut has no hum at all when the volume controls are matched. There is very little hum when they are not matched. Single coil pickups usually have some hum.
The bridge is very much like an old Bad Ass II. I like the 2 slots per saddle. Don't see any real reason to replace it.
Never painted a bass. A few here have stripped and refinished.
Some of the guys at the Glarry club have done some really nice work.
@EatS1stBassist, @JRA and @JeezyMcNuggles have done some awesome work.
@Bassist59 and @barclaybass have also done some great refinish/paint work too!

Appreciate the feedback B-Mac. I thought the bridge looked familiar and yes it certainly does resemble the Bad ASS II. The hum is very treble sensitive and that will most likely be mostly taken care of with propewr shielding and wiring upgrade.

No need to upgrade the pickups since I love the sound I'm getting with the Fender Flats.

I'll report back after the wiring and pots upgrades.

All of them...a few times. Haha

I was going through the same thing. I found it was a wire in my electrical circuit. (In the Wall):rollno:
