Awaiting arrival of this Dean Razor NT I found online, my 3rd Dean bass , Last month I got my first 2 Dean basses, a Hillsboro J in Trans Blue & white Hillsboro single , great basses that were like new and cheap tooView attachment 3612087 View attachment 3612088

I picked up this today. I think it 90's 6 string Dean Edge 6 string. It has passive EMG-HZ pickups and a volume/tone/pickup selector switch. Electronics work fine. The frets may need a slight dressing but look good. Tuners are functioning. A few scratches on the back and that is all. Both truss rods work but the saddles are floored because the bridge has bent over time. I found a drop in replacement at ALL PARTS for $30.

I attached a picture of the bass.

So far I picked it up for $199 and possibly $30 more for the bridge. I do have the option to return it. I just want to get some more information on it. Body and fret-boards mostly.

I will post pics when i can, having major issues with computer! Btw, im on my 5th coat of Tru Oil on the fretboard and its looking really darker and deeper...i rolled the fretboard edges and the rosewood board is a great piece (i think its rosewood) with tight straight grain...now i have to figure out strings as i think these may be the stock round strings...i dont want to lose any 'mwa' in the tone but flats would be nice though apparently i would lose some 'mwa'.

On the Tru Oil, i started with a very thin cot after sanding lightly, then each coat is still thin....cannot hurry this process...at least 24 hours between coats....i will do at least 10 thin coats then scuff/polish with 2000 grit.

I had a Dean Edge 5-string back in the early 00's that was a very good bass for the money. It was my main bass for many gigs. I set the action as low as I could get it without strings buzzing... it was smooth as butter and had great tone. Ended up selling it on eBay... wish I still had it. Dean is underrated. They make good basses. I also had the Dean Rhapsody 12-string for a while and used it for Drop D sets... and later on strung it Bbb-Eee-Aaa-Ddd for recording originals. Sounded great and powerful, only drawback... it was heavy.

What are the first 2 numbers after the letter of the S/N?
This is an Edge 5 Fretless which is actually based on the Edge 4.
It is active with DMT (Dean Magnetic Technologies) pups.
I don't have any price list handy right now. [edit] see below

BTW, I own the Trans Amber Burst version of this tuned E,A,D,G,C and enjoy it even though I'm not good at fretless and not good at 5 string. However, because it is tuned E,A,D,G,C I find it easier to play than other 5 strings for obvious reasons being a 4 string player.

Now that's interesting.
These are usually 'E' something or 'US' something
'E' for World factory Korea
'US' for Un Sung Factory Korea
Based on the usual convention of S/N for the Korean made basses and the headstock with the vertical script 'Dean' your bass is from 2002

Planning to stay with black and get something fairly nice (since the bass was priced so reasonably). It'll be my project (probably consider pups at some point, too).

Anyone have suggestions for replacement tuners and bridge (for this 5 string, Edge)? The tuners are pretty rough and a couple of screws on the bridge are stripped. Planning to stay with black and get something fairly nice (since the bass was priced so reasonably). It'll be my project (probably consider pups at some point, too).
