Dean Club!!!

HorusLupercal it's unreal resonance last for some time. I just love everything about this bass. This one is a definite keeper for sure!!

I'm very late to the Dean Club party, since I bought this Dean Paramount in 2019. Was NIB manufactured in March 2016. Guitar Center was doing an online blowout on these for $279 and I bought it sight unseen. Figured I couldn't go wrong. Turns out, it's like I hit the lottery.
This Paramount (granted, not a traditional Dean model) is a kicka$$ P-Bass. Construction, quality, and sound are great. This is a better P than a Fender Player P in every way. Besides the OK tuners the entire bass is very sweet. At the 2016 MSRP of (I think) $600 this still would have been a great value, more in line with P's that cost $800-$900.
This bass has been my main player since I bought it, and even though I just acquired another bass that may become my main player, I am never letting this Paramount go. Is fantastic with GHS Pressurewounds, my favorite string.

These are great.
They are discontinued.
MIK from 2015 to 2017 along with the Juggernaut which is the J Bass version which is just as awesome.

Love the necks.

These were on blow out at GC, MF, WW & BW and Music 123, all GC affiliates. One went for $264 and the other went for $259, but I can't recall which.

There was quite a rush on them here including me purchasing one of each. Real sleeper with 22 frets.

I can't recall who, but someone here bought 2 or 3 of each.

Just do a search for Paramount within this club and you'll see all kinds of info.

These members made the plunge a while ago in 2019.
@Mark Yurick @Sub-Frequency @Jimbowhit7 @FenderBassist
It would be interesting to hear from them as to how their Paramount or Juggernaut has held up

You still see these for sale new around $499 but they are all NOS.

Brass nut standard or added on? Is it brass?

I believe that to the best of my knowledge is brass coated but not plastic

I had mentioned to Tony that they are brass plated as a Dean Club!!! member had used Brasso or some other brass polish on his Czech made version and the brass came off down to bare metal. I know the late 90's and early 2000's upper end Edge basses had brass nuts as I have 2 Czech made Euro Select (an Improv and a Select) as well as 2 Korean made Edge Pro's also have brass nuts and thru necks plus an Edge Hammer 10 String a Rhapsody 8 string and a Rhapsody 12 string that also have brass nuts but are bolt-on necks. A magnet would be helpful determining if it is brass plated steel.

I am completely assuming they are all like this which could be completely wrong, but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way. :woot:

Here's a '99 Euro Select that has a brass nut

I'm very late to the Dean Club party, since I bought this Dean Paramount in 2019. Was NIB manufactured in March 2016. Guitar Center was doing an online blowout on these for $279 and I bought it sight unseen. Figured I couldn't go wrong. Turns out, it's like I hit the lottery.

I feel the same about my red/maple Paramount. Hands down my favorite bass I've ever owned. I got mine used off Craigstlist for $135; talk about winning the lottery! I eventually got a NOS sunburst/rosewood Juggernaut but I've come to realize I'm just a P bass with maple fretboard guy.

I have Fender 9050L flats on the Paramount and it's a joy to play, but I'm considering switching those to my Squier CV 50s Precision. My current band calls for rounds and a pick and I'd love to be able to use the Paramount.

For the curious, I wanted to share the versatility in sound of the Dean Jeff Berlin. They are NOT a one trick pony - just the opposite in fact. When I got my Palaedium, I thought the wiring was bad or something, because it sounded nothing like I expected it to in the "balanced" and "neck" pickup positions. The Dean JB is similar in this regard. Enjoy!

Love your vids and your playing!
I don’t believe I saw you slap before.

Thanks B-Mac. I do "slap" quite a bit but there isn't a whole lot of it on my channel 'yet' because I've been so busy this last year with Jeff Berlin and Billy Sheehan shenanigans, plus a plethora of collabs, requests, "best ofs" and other assorted distractions. I've got 5 or 10 Marcus Miller tracks I intend to do, plus some early Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, so stay tuned if you are already subbed (thanks btw), or subscribe if you are not! Thanks in advance!
