похоже на дб94. но цвет и крой. хозяин сказал что купил ее давно в магазине новой. он не перекрашивал.
Yes, I would say it is a special edition of the DB94. Do you have a picture of the serial number?

As for the pickups, how good are they? because I now have a small amplifier of poor quality. I can't rate the sound in it. is it worth buying something else? what should be the height of the strings? since the vibrations are very large compared to conventional guitars.

I have no idea.
You'd have to ask other owners listed on one of the links I posted for you.

Decent looking 8 string Rhapsody for sale on flea bay.

My son purchased a used Dean Metalman V bass last week. He brought it over to me today to set up for him. Unfortunately the trussrod nut is rounded out inside. The current neck relief isn’t too bad but was hoping to straighten the neck just a touch more.
I got the string height at a nice playable height and intonation spot on. It’s a neat bass in nice shape and plays pretty good. I just wish that he would have asked me to go along with him to check it out. Oh well.
I’d like to try and take out the old nut and replace it. Any idea what size Allen key fits? When I initially tried to adjust, it looked like a 4 mm would fit, but the tool kept spinning. Also, are TR nuts standard size once I find out the size for the Allen key?
I appreciate any info.
Did things work out on this and the right size tool?

Hi all, I just got a used Dean EABC5 from Reverb, strung with a reused Kalium set for CGDAE tuning (gauges here if anyone's interested). With these strings it sounds more like a deep baritone acoustic guitar. Still trying to find a comfortable position to hold it in, the guitar is huge!

Thanks for stopping in!
I own a few Dean ABG’s including the 4 string EAB

Would you pass along the beginning letters an following first two numbers of your serial number so I can post the correct catalog page for you.

There’s a few here that gig with the Dean EAB, but mostly the 4 string version.

Serial number for mine is KH180621118.

I just tested the EABC5 through my audio interface: the highest 3 strings (DAE) aren't getting picked up at all. Sound output on the lowest string (C) is also significantly louder than the next lowest string (G).

I'm not too bothered in the meantime since I bought this primarily for recording parts acoustically; I'll stick to my EBG for playing live. That said, I do want to get this issue fixed in the future, and maybe then I'll fall down the rabbit hole of how to tame that piezo preamp...

Piezo pickups depend on downward pressure from the strings, but bass strings are pretty low tension compared to guitar strings. Different brands of strings vary on which strings have more tension. The piezo isn’t real reliable that way. I tried a Dean Markley Pro Mag soundhole pickup, bit it doesn’t get close enough to the strings.

Welcome!

Glad that you stopped in! Your Bass was made in 2018.
Made for Dean under contract with:

Guangzhou Vines Music

Guangdong, China

Here is a page from the 2019 catalog. The 2018 catalog I have is only a 'new' products catalog
eabc5.jpg

The 2017 Model is Passive with only two sliders for Volume and Treble and no tuner.

I own 24 ABG and this has happened to a few with different strings being dead or soft or louder than others.
It is not a huge deal. Just keep your head and take your time. Loosen your strings but don't take them out of the bridge or take out bridge pins as it isn't necessary.

Take out the plastic saddle. Place it bottom down on a flat surface in a dark room and place a light behind. A mini flash light will work. Look for light showing under the bottom the bridge. That's most likely where the culprit is. Get some 800 grit sand paper and sand down the bottom flat surface on a flat table. About 10 side to side motions. Check again with flash light. Repeat until no light is showing under the bottom of the saddle. Put plastic back in slot of wooden bridge and restring. Should be good to go.

If no light shows under the saddle with the flash light test get a small jewelers flat head screw driver. take out the plastic saddle and lift the piezo wire. Scrape the bottom slot in the bridge where the plastic saddle sets. There may be dust or saw dust or finish overspray that is keeping the saddle from lying flat on the piezo wire.

This should help. It is easy. I've done it a few times. Take your time.

Hello Dean fans, I'm considering buying a Dean resonator ABG. I currently have a Fender, I like the tone and the portability but it's just not loud enough in a string band. It's 2-3 hours drive so I was wondering if anyone could share any experience of the resonator models? One of my band mates thinks I'll find it too treble-y in tone. It would be a shame to drive that far and find he's right. The best alternatives I've come up with are a battery powered practice amp or a mando-cello but they come quite expensive!
