I am impressed. Why? Well, DEAN takes a lot of knocks by some headstock snobs. A lot of people yacking away usually about something they never even played or seen or heard in person played by someone else. You are playing DEAN's next to bottom line bass. The Playmate EAB is the next step lower.
You've been playing it for a while and then have been taking it to gigs and playing in front of appreciative audiences. I say BRAVO to you! To heck with all the nay-sayers.
You my Dean playing comrade are simply awesome! I commend you! I wish I could see and hear you perform in person! The YOUTUBE vids of GHG are pretty cool!![]()
Thanks for the kind words B-Mac! It's just another example that an inexpensive instrument isn't necessarily a bad one. I've gotten so many compliments about the bass tone and appearance over the years. I think I've changed quite a few people's misconceptions about the brand.![]()
Alas, I am afraid I will have to forfeit my Dean Club number. I swapped it tonight.
We have a couple Stylist owners here. A few with the Yellow Cabbie model and one with the sea foam green.Ciao, B-Mac: yes I still have my beloved and treasured Dean Stylist B1!Cheers. V.
We'd like to have the policy of once a DEAN CLUB member always a DEAN CLUB member.
However, since you were assigned a number very recently we can accommodate. What did you swap the Sledge Hammer for anyway?

WELCOME!Good day, and thanks for the invite to the Dean Club B-Mac! I do still have my Cabbie and would love to be part of this group. My story.. I bought my Cabbie off EBay about 3 years ago. I was getting very comfortable with 32" scale Basses, and hollow bodies. The 2 octave neck appealed to me, so I got it. At first, I wasn't happy with it. As you can see, it has TV Jones Thunder'Trons in it (like my G5123B's), with push pull pots to single coil the PUP's. I still wasn't happy, so I sold it to my kid, who also plays. He raved, and I listened. A year later I got it back, and spent some quality time working things out. Now it goes to, and is played at every gig for at least a third of the night.

About the pic.. I wear sunglasses because my eyes are closed 50% of the time, and I sit on a stool because we are a 7-8 piece band with Go-Go Dancers, and the key player is on the other side of the stage. There are enough peeps standing, and I'm getting old ;-) I'm playing through a couple EV 1X18 full range cabs, you can see my glasses case and water. If you look close, you can see the green of a Trace Elliot Elf driving those 18's.

WELCOME!
You have been issued member # 156
Glad to see you're using that Cabbie at gigs!
Who lowered the strings for you? I’d definitely try lowering the pups. Is the bass noticeably lowder than it used to be? Try having both vol controls matched to see if the hum goes away. If it didn’t hum before it really shouldn’t hum nowSo, I'm back today. Got my action much lower than before, about where my jazz bass is at.. But now I'm getting a constant humming noise.. Doesn't matter if I'm touching the strings, other metal parts or what have you.. Still hums.. Pretty loudly too. What could be the issue? Are my pick ups too close to the strings? I'm clueless.
