DemonFX Pedals - Any good?

Well, maybe there are people who support better conditions for actual workers and do not wanna support crap where people work for bowl of rice... So they rather pay more...

do you have some evidence of conditions and pay at the Mosky/Demonfx factory? The average large Chinese Shenzhen electronics factory is not a sweatshop and pays a reasonable wage for the level of labor and cost of living. Child labor has been on the decline there (opposite of the US actually) and is mostly in western rural China, not Shenzhen electronics factories. One problem with Chinese jobsites in general though is lax safety laws as the government doesn’t have the infrastructure in place to enforce it. Also, when demand is great the hours can become too long, but that’s going to be more of a problem at an Apple factory than at a guitar pedal factory. My point of reference is living and visiting China on and off for 25 years, knowing factory owners, and touring factories.

I do not have unfortunatelly. Of course, I wish the conditions were nice and fair there. Price for the pedal is really nice and I myself would try the best DG clone. Also, I know that MIJ or MIK (seen horror video about one Korean factory) is not assurance conditions are better, knowing the dedication for job in Japan also... So far, I can only say that my Spector is fine in this regards, as it comes from my country - Czech. Pay there is probably not a top by any means, but ok and conditions for health are also ok. Anyways, that is the bass I wanna sell for sure as it is too good for me - Euro LX :)

Korean work culture can be horrific even with office jobs! At least that’s what I hear from friends there. I have actually wondered about work conditions for the Samsung factories in Vietnam and India. Supply chain and humanitarian issues are definitely some things we should be considering in our purchases. I only chimed in because in general Chinese factory work conditions have changed so drastically from the perceptions that many still have. On the other hand they still have a long way to go in some other industries such as construction and industrial. Especially in the area of safety.

And dude.. I hope that’s really not the reason you’re selling that bass! You can grow into it!

Just grabbed the DK7 and Cali76 knock offs. I was never going to buy the actual pedals because I considered them overpriced and was not sure if I was going to use them a lot or not. This little investment will help me figure out if the pedals will actually work for me. The Dk7 I just want more for it's clean tone more than anything. The distortion tone is of course legendary at this point, but I don't use that tone a lot.

Vast majority of my pedal collection is OG releases but i have heard good things about these DemonFX clones.

So do you work in the industry? Knowing factory owners and touring factories, sounds like possibly a good place to be.

I saw some prices on alliexpress and could not resist grabbing that mini chorus and their new fuzz. I have a lot of options now to build a synthy setup or just screw around make some tones without spending a ton of cash for those sounds. That fuzz pedal may knock my big muff off the board. We shall see.

Hey buddy, well I have now 8 basses and 5 guitars I do not play at all... Spector is surely nicestly made, zebrano top, custom order with jazz neck width and 3bEMG preamp instead of 2b. Great dry sound also, active PJ sound hard to beat. But rather than that Id see Ricky 4001/4003 as a dream bass here... But still, in my Ibanez collection I still play mostly my old cheapest EBX404... From 5s I have SR885 with neck to die for for a bargain, tho i had to buy whole electronics for it + cheap pups to try and Gotoh pots... Contrary to this last fiver to try and got this week was MIK BTB 405 (bolt ons for me all the day) as wanted try something with ordinary string spacing (and opposite extreme than my 885)... So yeah, should play more... Where are the times where I had no instrument and dreamed about some, but had so much free time... Anyways is not she beautiful?

Being not only off topic,, as an owner of Ampeg SCR DI (got it also for the headphone output compared to Sansamp and RMX tho did not used that yet), is there something that could made my sound really shine? I have to say, I have hard time to find Scrambler OD output nice or useful at all... Got some nice KHDK Nergal sig. pedal, which is great, but hardly using it (more for a collection and resell later on). So Maybe the D7K could help in this regard or could take the place of Ampeg alltogether.

Also some tips for cool modulation effects? Thought about some synth, maybe flanger, chorus, tho I already have Hartke purple one, which is quite subtle, so maybe some more extreme one could be nice. Maybe some nice reverb or vibrato? Thanks for tips and experience with these.

no. I have lived in and visited China on and off since 1996 and have just found myself in right places at right times or just becoming friends with the right people. The first factory tour I ever had was a karaoke machine factory in 1996. That was kind of hilarious. Even back then though I was def not looking at a sweatshop, though surely the pay probably wasn’t great at that time.

that is a gorgeous bass, man! The best Ampeg sound I’ve heard from a pedal is the Origin Effects Bassrig Super Vintage. Sounds so good but too damn expensive. With the quality of IR’s around these days though you might look into a cheap IR loader pedal and experiment with some. For my preamp and direct box I am using a Sushi Box Particle Accelerator into a Darkglass Element running a Bergantino cab sim IR and it sounds really great to me, though I’m not going for the Ampeg thing. I don’t have too many modulation effects at the moment - Aguilar Octamizer, which sounds very good, and MXR Analog Chorus which I also like a lot. My next modulation pedal I’m aiming for is the Source Audio C4 synth pedal. Also kind of expensive. I’ll buy it used when I do get it as I do with most of my name-brand pedals. I wish DemonFX or Joyo or one of the other Chinese companies would make a really advanced and flexible synth pedal.

my next bass actualy might be an Ibanez. I’m very interested in the SRH505F.

Read about that Ampeg sounding pedal, but too expensive. Funny enough. After i have bought NuX Mighty plug for quiet practicing i was really happy with IR for Ampeg 8x10. With some Aguilar head preset, it kinda surprised me by that sound. Ok, and some recommendation for DemonFX pedals then?

Cool Ibanez buddy, tried it once and it was nice, tho i love the old mojo thing and would search some old fretted MIJ Ibanez and just defret it. But to each his own

i don’t know which DemonFX to go with for Ampeg sound TBH but the B7K Uktra might be your best bet.

I like the Ibanez SRH505F because I want the chambered body and woody piezo tone.

Does the D7K have a direct out and ground lift or is it just printed on the case?
Does anyone run their DemonFX pedal at 18V?
I have a Harmonic Blaster and Pearl White, and both work great.
yes, the D7K has a DI and ground lift. i haven't tried it at 18 volts though.

When I had one, the D7K did NOT have a ground lift. The label had ground lift printed on it, but there was no button. It's been a bit, and maybe they've changed it since, but the pictures on the current Amazon listing also show no ground lift - only the printed words.

Update: The A7K - their take on the "non-Ultra" B7K pedal, DOES have a ground lift according to the pictures of the current Reverb listing. I have never owned one of these. Perhaps the confusion is in the nomenclature, as the original Darkglass products are both "B7K"s, but the DemonFX takes are A7K and D7K.

So it seems this is the case:
D7K = B7K Ultra Clone = No Ground Lift
A7K = B7K Clone (NOT Ultra) = Has Ground Lift

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about the D7K more for tone shaping in my dirty loop rather than for distortion. I'm not such a big fan of the DG distortion tone that others love, and I'm more fond of stacking overdrives that are less harsh and creamy, currently with a Barbershop, Green Rhino and Jetter GSR. But none of these have the eq control of the D7K. The Harmonic Blaster works pretty good, but I like it more as a final eq after blending my dirty loop back in with my clean signal to add some clank, or totally clean for a decent slap tone.

R&D is probably paid for in the first week of release of most of these pedals. The rest is gravy. And while I get your analogy of the kid copying test answers ultimately it's all about "show me the money." If I can get the same sound and pay hundreds less, then all that makes me do is think people who pay more are suckers. Sorry, that's just how the real world works.

I owe nothing to Darkglass or any of these effect builders, boutique or not, mom and pop or not. If someone can make essentially the same product for a lot less, what am I really paying for if I pay more?

congrats - you have literally no idea how economics works. By your reasoning, pedal companies should be raking it in. And they are not.

it always amazes me how even in circles of musicians where you would think the average user had a higher than normal understanding and appreciation of intellectual property, people are very happy to be thieves and support scumbags.
