After trying the Mini-Chorus with Thunderbird, Stingray and Jazz basses, I'll be using those settings : Speed and mix at 10oc, depth 2 oc, with toggle switch in the down position. I get a smooth chorus sound with almost-intact foundation, as far as I can tell.
I go for a moderate chorus effect and whatever pedal I'm using, the settings will vary of course, but will still give out a moderate effect. Settings for settings, the Mini-Chorus is subtler than the Bass Clone, more along the lines of the MXR BCD with the flanger off and definitely has its own voice. I would say similar to a Boss CEB-3, but much warmer. I'd be curious to hear what someone who owns an old analog Boss chorus would have to say about the Mini-Chorus, I wouldn't be surprised to hear they are similar.
I don't have any of the chorus pedals in my profile anymore, so I A/B'd the Mini with a couple of chorus patches from the Zoom MS60B (I prefer the Vintage, Stereo and Clone patches), just for fun, which is like comparing green apples and red apples, the mini being analog, but still gives a perspective. I can't say it blows them out of the water, but it does have a more natural-souding chorus than those patches. I honestly could get by in my current band with the Vintage chorus patch, but that would be too simple a solution...
I do recommend the pedal if one's looking for an inexpensive chorus pedal and/or an alternative to the EHX Bass Clone. The mini chorus will stay on my board for now, but I'm not putting the Bass Clone in classifieds yet...
