DemonFX Pedals - Any good?

Just found this effects and I need (want) a compressor! Between Cali 76 and Super Symmetry, which one better? Had a Hyper Luminal and love it, need to sold it because I need money. If the Super Symmetry's clone anything near the Hyper Luminal, I'll order it to cover my need.

Doing a new mini board for outdoor shows this summer where variables are very unpredictable. Got a CALL76 and a D7K on the way. Can’t speak to the Symmetry, but the CALL is very good for the price. Pretty transparent, but great tone and control.

This is somewhat related / adjacent to the Demonfx topic BUT - I'm looking to replace my current compressor (MXR Studio) with a top-jack box. Empress Bass is my ideal candidate but I haven’t spotted a good deal yet and in my searching have found the Demonfx and Ly Rock pedals. Can anybody speak to the CALL76 vs Ly Rock Cali76 Stacked Edition?

I'm wondering this question as well - specifically the DemonFX take on the DG Alpha Omicron. How close is it? I'm trying to find a "grittier B3K", and it seems the A Omicron could do it, but can't really justify the cost. So - anybody have a verdict?
I have to Demonfx alpha omicron

It’s a little crazy for me tho personally I love metal but I don’t play it with my band at least not as heavy as this pedal should be used for. I wish this pedal had a Eq on it when I stack it with my boss overdrive 3 or my Demonfx D7k ultra it get wild and muddy . I don’t like walking around all the time between songs and changing the amps Eq I’m a set it n forget kind of guy. Id recommend getting the D7K ultra instead or the real alpha omega ultra so you have the Eq section on the pedal if you willing to pay that much. It’s better than the boss overdrive but not as good as the Demonfx D7k but it gets really close to the actual dark glass version in my opinion for $55 I can’t be mad vs the $230 real alpha omicron pedal or $450 for the alpha omega ultra, get it on Amazon if you don’t like it return it hassle free

I've actually had BOTH the B7KU and the D7K. Neither stayed! I have found I prefer the smaller versions of those circuits. That's why I was asking about the Alpha Omicron specifically. I recently got a B3K (4 knob version) and it's doing better and seems to have more gain than the other model I was using (which was a clone with an 18v option). Regardless, it's working just fine for me. Maybe I'll get a DemonFX version as a cheap backup and compare. Thanks for the response!

I got a Dfx Alpha Omicron to check out since aliexpress was having a pretty good BF sale and I’m liking it a lot. I haven’t used the real thing. I did used to play through a B3K and I liked the tone of that a lot too. This one can definitely get way grittier/heavier than the B3K if you want it to but it doesn’t have to. It seems pretty diverse in its sounds. I prefer the mod knob turned all the way to alpha side. I don’t want the real heavy sound.

If they had a punch card you would probably qualify for a free pedal by now.
Which is your favorite?
If I one could save one from a house fire id run inside n grab the call76 compressor! I know that sounds crazy just the compressor what? but that compressor is more than a regular compressor that doesn’t do anything it adds some kinda magic to the sound idk how to explain it but it is the most useful one out of all of them here. My bare minimum pedals would be the compressor the D7k ultra and the harmonics booster and the hottone wah pedal u can do alot with just those 4 and have a ton of tone shaping options with them

Mini chorus is by far my favorite. Call76 prolly 2nd. My guitar player love the dual gun.
The mini chorus is really nice I was impressed with it right away, I love that it has three different voices thin regular and thick u get alot out of it because of that feature. I like mixing it with my phaser things get really swirly and twisty, I keep the phaser at the lowest setting or it makes the chorus get out of control and it doesn’t sound good. All n all I’m very happy with Demonfx or I wouldn’t have so many of them they are all good. They affordable and great sounding and quality steel case housing . My guitarist uses the freeman pedal it’s a little black overdrive pedal it sounds good,I’m gonna have to shame n bully him into buying the dual guns , I have some Australian guy’s demo on YouTube I thought it was pretty cool sounding and u get two pedals in one that super convenient alone less link cables and you only have to worry about powering one instead of two

Cool. I just got the Call76 and the Alpha Omicron. Aliexpress had a pretty good BF sale. I used to use the Origin Cali76 and really loved it. I have only played with the Call76 once so far but couldn’t find the same magic yet. I clipped the sh@t out of it when I turned up the In too high. Need to play around some more. I immediately liked the Alpha Omicron. Playing into it through a Sushi Box Particle Accelerator pre. I’d consider that Chorus if I didn’t have and like my MXR Analog Chorus. Maybe I’ll check it out anyway some time.

I have never tried the real deal before never even seen one in person but I’m happy with the fake one . Mxr makes good stuff I’m really impressed with the phaser I didn’t know they had a chorus but now I’m in the same boat as you I already have chours but now I’m curious and that dangerous for my wallet

Just found this thread, and tried to find what I was looking for, alas, no joy.
Question... Does DemonFX have a version of the Vintage Microtubes? That's really the sound I hear in my head when I think of drive, mostly after watching an old Steve Lawson YT clip where he's showing off his pedals (LINK) <around 02:20 he talks about the VMT>.

Anyway... That's what I'm after. Any thoughts?
Kind regards

You know, it’s weird, it seems the VMT and the VT Bass are the two that the China folks just won’t copy for some reason. I’m sure they could, just weird that they don’t.

I have never seen it before but keep checking their pedal line up from time to time, they are stealing pedal designs constantly but it seems they make 4 or 5 guitar pedals slowly very slowly and then finally 1 bass pedal so u might be waiting for awhile even more so if the one pedal released is not the VMT . If u you really want it u might have to fork out the big bucks, if I have time today I’ll mess around with my gear and see if any of it can get acceptably close to that sound that Dk7 ultra can get really mellow and laidback sounding if I dial back the drive and adjust the EQ settings for a warmer tone . That man in the video is crazy his bass tone was already amazing right off the bat just the bass and amp alone but improving perfection is not, things can always be better

I never tried this pedal because of the price. The demonfx Fuzz works 7 kicks ass on bass. Wow! The gate knob just before it slams closed is amazing. There are many positions on the rotary knob that work for bass. It can also boom fuzz... don't know how to explain that lol... I own lots of fuzzes... including the zvex fuzz factory/zvex wooly mammoth/zvex mastatron/... and this one is my favorite. I also own the zvex box of rock which is my favorite mild overdrive pedal. The demonfx Fuzz works 7 is my favorite one of zvex's designs... Time to save up for the original!

R&D is probably paid for in the first week of release of most of these pedals. The rest is gravy. And while I get your analogy of the kid copying test answers ultimately it's all about "show me the money." If I can get the same sound and pay hundreds less, then all that makes me do is think people who pay more are suckers. Sorry, that's just how the real world works.

I owe nothing to Darkglass or any of these effect builders, boutique or not, mom and pop or not. If someone can make essentially the same product for a lot less, what am I really paying for if I pay more?

Well, maybe there are people who support better conditions for actual workers and do not wanna support crap where people work for bowl of rice... So they rather pay more...
