Dimarzio pickup club

Ive got the model P/J DP126 set in my SX P/J bass along with CTS pots from a fender Jazz. I think thats the only bass I need for the rest of my life now. I have about $170 in it.

However I also have a MIM sage green P bass with creme Model P and an aged pearloid picguard. Sweetness. Thinking about routing it for a P/J also. Sweet neck for an MIM.

Can any of you please tell me the best potentiometer value and capacitor to use with model J,s in a geddy jazz i want to wire the series parallel also in case that makes any difference

Love me some Dimarzio's! I'm assembling my second custom parts bass right now and it has a cream model j and a cream Schaller Dimarzio model P copy. When I bought the copy I was told it was a Dimarzio. I've had it in 4 different basses as well as owning real Model P's and they sound the same. Vintage yet growly. Can't go wrong.

I've been having a great time with a Willpower (Billy Sheehan) P and an Ultra Jazz by the bridge on an ESP vintage, It's become one of my "can't put it down basses". When you wind up both pickups you lose a bit of the power of the p pickup but the blend is great and articulate non-the-less. I'm a real fan of the Ultra Jazz on it's own. Can't wait to try them in some of my Jazz Basses.

I recently bought a Fender Japan PB 62-105 DMC Precision Bass. It has those DiMarzio Collection PUs installed. The writing on the Pu-Cover says "DiMarzio Collection"

They sound really good with bright Highs and a big Bottom, but noone seems to know anything about it. They seem to be something made exclusively for Fender Japan.

Who knows more about it?

DiMarzio recommends 500K pots and .047 mfd caps.

I love Model P and J pickups. I've got both a 70s and a new Model J in my SX jazz (old creme one in the neck I find its a little warmer more P-ish) and a frankenstein P-bass with the model P I'm trying to do some weird electronics wizardry with. Will post pics when they are both in photogenic condition.

It definitely has a volume dropoff, but if you up the volume to the level of series, you'll notice it sounds more like a standard single coil pickup, less bass and mid punch, more highs, and more clarity. Yes also means more boring in most cases but some people want that kind of sound.

Been using Dimarzios since my first bass in the 70's - a Model One in the '72 Gibson EB-3L (died of a broken headstock)
Current stuff:
Model One in my '81 Rickenbacker 4001
Model J's in my '99 Fretless Jazz bass
Ultra Jazz 5's in my '01 Yamaha BB605
Love 'em!
