Posting this here because I know many of us use the Mono bags.

Mine has a tear in it, is this a duct tape repair or take it to a seamstress situation?

Bicycle puncture repair patch would probably do a decent job and be waterproof.
I'd still sew it underneath to stop it getting bigger though.

I was gonna suggest an iron on from michaels or something you can denim and all kinds of stuff but I just don’t know how the bag itself would take to the heat of the iron which is why I figured a glue vs iron on. There is a rubber cement compound that I use with the leather working that is probably inline with what I was thinking. You could stitch it as well of just glue an extra large patch to encompass both sides of the rip substantially. The bag material can definitely be stitched and it wouldn’t hurt to as well but I’d start with gluing a patch. It will hold the stress around the rip together best IMO.

I'm definitely taking it to a seamstress I know. My 99 Z2 was coming out the bottom of it's original bag after all these years. I stow my Dingwalls in a closet using the provided hook on the headstock end, and that probably expedited the tear.

She sewed it up like stock, even using black leather strips as reinforcement.

I'm sure she will know the best method to repair a mono bag rip. I'll share some after photos.

Did you check with Mono to see what they recommend, or how they would do it?
Might also check with a Luggage Repair specialty shop, who would have more relevant direct knowledge than a general seamstress. I would think (just a hunch) that a seamstress might be more inclined to do beautiful looking work, and a Luggage Repair shop might be more inclined to do mechanically sound work that will last. For this application, I'd be more interested in the latter. (Edit: Upon re-reading your post, I see you found a seamstress that clearly has an understanding of structural reinforcement and designing repairs for longevity. That's cool! I haven't been so lucky in my travels.)

For example: If you contact a luggage company like Briggs & Riley or Samsonite and tell them you have one of their soft sided bags and ask them where to take it locally for repair. They might have someone right near you they could recommend.

Did I mention that I'm anxiously awaiting my new D Bird?
I was on the fence about it for so long, and afraid it was gonna get snagged just before I decided to get one.

Do any Los Angeles area Dingwall owners have suggestions on a tech/shop for modifying the bass to BEAD? I know a competent guy (I've used his services for years), but I'm not sure what his fanned fret experience is, and I'd feel best about going to someone familiar with setting up Dingwalls.

It is the catalyst for me to move a couple of others that I've been on the fence about holding. My Nash JB 63 is in the classifieds. I'm considering posting up my StingRay and possibly my Zombie Alex Webster Spector 5 (it is one of twelve, so I'll never get another one if it goes).

I'm not from LA, but I've read that a lot of folks have taken/sent their basses to Mo @ Nordstrand. In fact, he's working on my Super P right now.

Not sure I know the variables. It’s got 3 pickups.

I’d also want the truss and intonation and action adjusted. Bass is coming from another climate, and I’m restringing it.
