That’s pretty much what I thought when I plugged this newly acquired NG-2 into my Alpha/ Omega - B7K Ultra combo!
Currently tuned BEAD or sometimes drop B (B, F#, B,E). Sounds amazing & adjusting to the fanned frets really takes almost no adjustment at all just plays sooo easily !

Yes, that’s what I did for my NG2. I also ordered a Combustion Pickguard and separated the pickups. I got a 3x kit coming from bebass once he gets them in stock!

Jedi master. I dig the old rendition and this one just takes the wow factor up a notch. Very clean. Looks like the old Ab has got some wear since the last vid.

Did you buy new or used if the former then you’ll definitely be able to add a pickup.
If it’s used then it depends, square pickup ends can’t do 3x without routing. Most, if not all, rounded end pickup models are routed for 3x.
Can’t answer the serial number question but a quick look under the pick guard will tell all.

Hey man, so glad you are digging it and it ended up in good hands! I told you the fanned frets take almost no adjustment. So many people (including me at one time) think it will require hours of practice to adjust, when in reality it takes almost none imo.

Thanks for the kind words, Nate! Yeah, my poor AB has gotten some major wear and tear since the last video. It's been a work horse that I keep putting hours into. But that's the curse of a Dingwall. You just can't seem to put it down!

I might be able to get a few together soon. It is a great Rat variant. It takes the 9v in and internally doubles it to 18v, or it will take 18v in and run at 36v. It has 7 clipping diode options. I had one of mine customized to Ge, instead of the high-gain Si. There is a smaller box version with a mid-control, vs. the original with just bass and treble. If you like the raspy gnarl of a Rat, this is one of the best there is.

I do have a soft spot for a good Rat. I'll have to keep my eye out for one on the used market. Thanks for the tip!

Cheers for the info! I'll check under the pick guard once it arrives. Pretty sure they were rounded pickups from what I remember of trying it out in the shop. Not long to wait now!

Out of interest, for anyone who has an NG2 with the routing for a 3rd pickup, did you ever move the neck pickup forward to have a more traditional setting such as a regular Combustion rather than both pickups right beside each other? How does it sound compared to the normal setup on an NG2?

My go to setting when doing standard pocket playing and supportive stuff is:

Hi-Mid: just a bit lower than the center detent
mids: same, just dial it under the detent
bass: center or boosted a tiny bit

that, with a soft touch, sounds totally usable in any thinkable "standard" setting. When playing solo here I like to dial in a soft smilie face, as in bass and hi-mid minimally boosted, mids cut a bit. But the small mid cut usually suffices. It instantly sounds better to my ears with the mids lowered just a bit.

When playing it LOUD and in a heavy band setting with my SVT I like to push bass and hi-mid completely, leave mids center and then dial in the 500hz on the SVT nearly all the way up. It sounds so damn brutal.

Hi, yes, I did that. I have sound files of it. I've experimented with every possible pickup combination in parallel and series. My favorites: everything the NG-2 has to offer plus neck only and neck/bridge PU in parallel.

I've even put them in the neck and middle positions, but that sounds totally meh in comparison. Neck/bridge sounded awesome!
