Here's my AB2-5 (circa 2005 I think). Great bass, but I sometimes think that I should gig/travel with something less expensive to replace.

I would definitely carry insurance for your bass for today's replacement cost, which is almost 40% more than in '05.

I have an '05 too and an '07. I prefer the earlier solid body versions.

Even if they are, Sheldon's specs have changed a lot over the years. After Barts came Dingwall FD-1 pickups, which I understand are not as dark as Barts but in the same area. After FD-1 came FD-3, which are very modern and with an amazing dynamic range.

I just got my first Dingwall few weeks ago and I'm IN LOVE! It is a Z2 w/ Bartolini guts.

Just wondering guys.. What is the main difference of Bartolini pups vs Dingwall? Isn't like the Bartolinis is custom wounded for Sheldon specs too?

Hmmmm.. Makes me think of changing my pups but I love the barts set up.

I've seen that Z...very nice bass. I like it a lot. You should talk to Sheldon about the pickups and what you could rightly expect with different models of his pickups vs. the barts.

I like your bass A LOT too! :D Actually, your bass was my main reason I got a Dingwall! The craftmanship on your rastaburst Dingwall is insane!

I might email Sheldon about the pups..

Thanks! The good news is that Sheldon puts in just as much attention to detail on ALL his instruments. I just benefited from some additional genius and generosity on his part!

I've been having real bad luck getting work in the hospital since they hired more people, so my source of income isn't what I'd like it to be. I might not be joining this club as soon as I'd like. I certainly have the money to afford almost any Dingwall, but I don't want to spend all of my money.

Luckily, I'm on EI and still get paid every two weeks, so I'm slowly putting little chunks of money away to get an ABI. Soon, my friends. Soon.

I wouldn't complain if I were you, brother Josh, some of us have worst luck. At least you are alive and healthy, money comes money goes. Health is unpredictable when it snatches your loved ones from you and no money in the world could make a difference.

Just wanted to show off my new ABII to be arriving at the end of the week. Got it through Gary @ Guitar X.

Put a birdseye maple board on the walnut neck on this one and really like the way it looks. Think it all blends in together nicely. Peace.
