Dingwall Owners Club

Replaced dingwall nickels with Payson nickels, medium light, brand new. The distance is comparable, no exact measurements but it's not too close or a mile off the neck either. I'd say an even medium-low action. Yes to the notes being louder on the E than B.

Is this your old flame?:roflmao:

Current favorite. :D

is the issue the same with the neck and bridge pick ups solo'd ?

So I recently got my hands on a beautiful ABZ, and everything about it is awesome...but I'm having trouble with the low B. It sounds a bit dead and is definitely a lower volume than the rest of the strings. I switched the strings and the problem persists. Has anyone had this issue?

Try loosening and giving the ball of the B a little twist in the same direction as the wind (as if you were trying to tighten the string windings) and bring it back to pitch. Make sure you have good break angles etc as well.

This brings up a deep rooted struggle with in... to focus on one!!! Maybe at least one style. Ie the Z.

Love the SJ but bouncing back and forth seems counter productive.

So maybe 1 is enough....
Oh but one fret less and one fretted.... so maybe 2 is enough....

;)

I'm 100% convinced that the number and makeup of my Dingwall "arsenal" will be determined by how well I get along with the ABZ 6/3 I've got on order. I've got a 4/3, two 5/3's, and a 6/3 incoming, if I dig the 6/3, I'll probably sell one of the 5/3's and order a Z3 6-string. If, otoh, I don't dig the 6, I'll probably still sell one of the 5/3's and just order a Z3 5-string. I've still got over a year to think about this...;-)

I had fully convinced myself that 8 was enough. Then I started feeling pretty comfortable that 10 was really enough. But the UPS man will be here in 3 hours with #11. And I hate odd numbers. So this is a real problem...

Well? Don't keep us in suspense, man...

It's a super nice Super P, 8 lb 7 oz, with very well spent D'Addario strings that are getting tossed in the waste bin tonight. Can't wait to hear how it sounds with a fresh set of wires on it.

Sounds like you should just order a Z6 and Z5 and call it a day.

I’m digging the one and only thing. When I was up to four, i had too many choices.

If the six was going to work, she would not tolerate rivals. I had three fine basses in a closet for the year and a half the six string ruled the roost.

When I cleaned house, I figured the six would be last to sell. It was first to go.

I’m happy with the four string Super P. Simple, easy, light. Got the drop tuner for when I need a low note.

The four string NG’s are tempting.

Too late. The multi-ABZ order is already in the “to do” pile...I still like the ABZ body shape better.

And while you're at it, add a Z06 and a Z4 to complete the collection!

I have been trying to finagle a Z06 since, like, 2006! That lust subsided until the C7 Z06 in 2015! If I sell my Harley, a C7 Z06 is on my “to do” pile...;-)
