Not sure how short you need it, but the "Short" size Comfort Strapp goes from 33" to 37" and they are super comfy.
Not the best LOOKING strap in the world, but certainly at or near the top for comfort.

I use Italia 4” suede backed leather straps. Always a two fer special going.

With a good pair of shears and a utility knife, you can customize the fit, trim off any extra and just leave them on the bass. I had one on each bass, no need for strap locks with the tight holes.

They are kind of thick, but with some persistence, you’ll get strap locks on. Now that I’m down to one strap, but have two basses with strap locks, I’m using strap locks and moving the strap.

Really nice leather, a lifetime strap. I’ve picked them up used in the tb classifieds for $40-50.

I am currently using Souldier Straps and they have a really wide rage of adjustment. I also like that you can specify vinyl ends over leather and there is a multitude of designs to choose from. They also fold nice and compact and are easy to store in a case or gig bag.

Those look pretty cool. Next time you chat with them, you may want to suggest to them that they should mention the strap width on the web site. I would think most buyers would want to know the width.

That isn't how I would suggest playing bass but Fieldy has sold a lot more records than me so what do I know.

On a related note, I knew a fellow who went to GIT in L.A. and one night the class had to run sounds for Korn. Fieldy's bass is tied to to the drum triggers to keep everything on time/clean.

The pickups when setup 'stock' are really close to the strings and it's easy to do that even without a heavy right hand attack. My NG3 has this wear, but I've left them very close to the original shop-spec. With my Rastaburst I dropped the pickups about a turn or a turn and a half to protect the shells (finished spalted maple) from wear. That was entirely effective and I never felt it impacted the tone negatively. My AB-1 also got shell wear with the standard setup, and those were the older more-kickass-big-logo Dingwall shells.

I usually drop my pick ups down a smidge also without noticing tonal compromise. matter of fact I had the odd issue of when digging into the B string I could hear the contact bounce on a pick up before lowering. To my ears by lowering then an additional 1/16 or even a titch more clarity was not impacted, dare I say a little cleaner and the vol drop is so insignificant that it was a great adjustment. especially considering how hot these pick ups are to begin with.... and the monster gear I like to deafen myself with.

Playing style must have a lot to do with it. I don't even have that kind of wear on my ramps which are radiused above the pickups and use an acryllic lacquer finish. I do have a lot of fingermarks around the strings though.

Pick and heavy is probably the problem. But I will say that the finish on my Z/V is very hard, maybe harder than the shells. After playing literally hundreds of shows and thousands of hours, there is only very little 'clouding' in the gloss of the finish. Also, while it only took 8 months of playing the NG-3 to go through the poly on the fretboard, the board and inlays on the Rastaburst are pristine (I have worn finish off the back of the neck though).

Speaking of playing wear, I noticed the other day that the pickup adjustment screws on my Super P have rusted like crazy. I went through a period where I was obsessively fiddling with the pickup heights, so I guess the finish wore off.

Anyone know what kind of screw I'd be looking for as a replacement?

try contacting dingwall is what id recommend. get the exact ones.

Yeah, that happens. I requested a slightly different finish on the neckbolts of my rastaburst since I tend to sweat through the 'standard finish' on this kind of hardware. The pickup screws and a bunch of the pickguard screws on the NG that are in contact with my body have indeed corroded as well.
